WNBA Preview: Dallas Wings Return Home Looking to Complete Season Sweep of Toronto Tempo

STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | August 12, 2026 — The Dallas Wings return to College Park Center on Wednesday night looking to bounce back from a road loss and continue their season-long success against the Toronto Tempo.

Dallas (19-14) will host Toronto (10-22) at 7 p.m. CT on August 12, marking the third meeting between the teams this season. The matchup will air nationally on USA Network, with Kate Scott handling play-by-play alongside analysts Lea B. Olsen and Tina Thompson. Fans in the Dallas-Fort Worth market can also watch on KFAA, where Ron Thulin, Fran Harris and Alexis Davis will have the call.

The Wings enter the matchup following a 103-90 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday afternoon at Target Center.

Despite the final margin, Dallas stayed within striking distance for much of the contest. The game featured eight ties and six lead changes, and the Wings were even with Minnesota at 66-66 with 3:26 remaining in the third quarter.

From there, the Lynx took control.

Minnesota outscored Dallas 37-24 over the remainder of the game, pulling away against a Wings team that had battled throughout the afternoon.

Paige Bueckers once again provided the offensive spark for Dallas. The guard finished with 23 points, four rebounds, eight assists and three steals, matching her season high in the steals category.

The performance marked Bueckers’ 18th game this season with at least 20 points, continuing an impressive offensive campaign.

Wednesday’s meeting presents Dallas with an opportunity to regain momentum against an opponent it has already defeated twice.

The Impact of the Dallas Wings on the Season

The Wings are 2-0 against Toronto this season, earning victories on July 5 in Toronto and July 10 in Montreal.

Their most recent meeting produced one of Dallas’ most impressive offensive performances of the year.

Playing before 20,996 fans at Montreal’s Bell Centre, the Wings defeated the Tempo 108-95 behind a dominant outing from Bueckers.

She scored a season-high 34 points while adding six rebounds and six assists, reaching the 30-point mark for the fourth time in her career. Five Dallas players finished in double figures as the Wings consistently found scoring opportunities against Toronto’s defense.

The Tempo will arrive in Arlington looking to respond from a high-scoring road loss of their own.

Toronto fell 107-95 to the Atlanta Dream on Monday night despite a huge performance from Marina Mabrey.

Mabrey erupted for 36 points and connected on seven of her 13 attempts from beyond the arc, giving the Tempo a dangerous perimeter threat Dallas will need to account for throughout Wednesday’s matchup.

Rookie guard Kiki Rice also provided a strong contribution with 18 points.

Containing Toronto’s backcourt figures to be one of the primary challenges for Dallas. Mabrey’s ability to create offense from deep can quickly change the complexion of a game, while Rice gives the Tempo another scoring option capable of attacking the Wings’ defense.

For Dallas, Wednesday represents more than an opportunity to secure a third victory over Toronto.

With the regular season entering its later stages, every game carries added importance as the Wings continue working to strengthen their position while building consistency for the postseason push.

Returning home could provide the ideal setting for a response.

Dallas has already demonstrated its ability to score efficiently against the Tempo, and another strong performance from Bueckers, combined with balanced production from the supporting cast, could help the Wings establish control early.

After seeing a competitive game slip away late in Minnesota, the focus Wednesday will be on finishing.

The Wings have already solved Toronto twice this season. Now, in front of their home crowd at College Park Center, Dallas will look to make it three straight and get back into the win column.
