STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | May 12, 2026 — The Dallas Wings will officially bring the excitement of their new era to North Texas on Tuesday night when they host the Atlanta Dream in a sold-out home opener at College Park Center.
Excitement Surrounding the Dallas Wings
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT as fans get their first in-person look at a revamped Dallas roster that already appears capable of becoming one of the WNBA’s most explosive offensive teams.
The matchup will air locally on KFAA with veteran broadcaster Ron Thulin handling play-by-play duties alongside analyst Fran Harris and sideline reporter Alexis Davis.
Dallas enters the home opener carrying major momentum after a thrilling 107-104 road victory over the Indiana Fever in Saturday’s nationally televised season opener.
The Wings’ 107-point performance not only secured Jose Fernandez’s first career WNBA victory, but also established a new league record for most points scored by a team in a season opener.
The offensive display immediately validated much of the excitement surrounding Dallas entering the 2026 season.
Leading the charge was the dynamic backcourt trio of Arike Ogunbowale, Paige Bueckers and Odyssey Sims.
The three guards combined for 62 points while shooting an incredible 66.7 percent from the field against Indiana. Their ability to create offense both in transition and in half-court sets overwhelmed the Fever defense for much of the afternoon.
Bueckers once again looked like one of the league’s brightest young stars.
The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year opened her sophomore campaign with 20 points while shooting 8-of-10 from the field. The efficient performance added another milestone to her already impressive start in the league.
With Saturday’s outing, Bueckers eclipsed 700 career WNBA points in only 37 regular-season games, tying Ogunbowale as the fastest player in franchise history to reach the mark.
She also became one of just eight players in league history to achieve 700 career points within their first 37 games.
Fernandez, meanwhile, immediately made history in his own right.
The longtime collegiate head coach became one of only two newly appointed WNBA head coaches this season to win their debut game. More importantly, Dallas displayed the exact up-tempo, aggressive offensive style Fernandez emphasized throughout training camp.
The Wings shot 59.1 percent from the floor against Indiana, marking the second-best field goal percentage by any team in WNBA history during a season opener.
Now, Dallas hopes to carry that offensive momentum into its first home game of the season.
Historically, the Wings have experienced mixed results in home openers since relocating to North Texas, posting a 4-5 record at College Park Center. However, Dallas has enjoyed success against Atlanta in previous home-opening matchups.
The Wings are 2-1 all-time against the Dream in home openers, including an 85-78 victory during the 2023 season behind a 27-point performance from Ogunbowale.
Atlanta, however, arrives in Arlington with momentum of its own.
The Dream opened the season Saturday with a dramatic 91-90 comeback victory over the Minnesota Lynx and continue to feature one of the league’s more talented cores.
All-Stars Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard and Brionna Jones remain central pieces for Atlanta, but much of the attention entering Tuesday surrounds offseason acquisition Angel Reese.
After being acquired from the Chicago Sky before the 2026 season, Reese wasted little time making an impact with her new franchise.
The two-time WNBA All-Star opened the year with her 50th career double-double, recording 11 points and 14 rebounds against Minnesota. Her physical rebounding presence and energy around the basket immediately create a difficult matchup challenge for opposing frontcourts.
Tuesday’s contest also features an intriguing clash of styles.
Dallas enters with arguably the hottest offense in the league after Saturday’s historic scoring outburst, while Atlanta brings size, athleticism and defensive toughness anchored by Reese and Jones inside.
The Wings will also debut their newly unveiled Rebel Edition uniforms at home for the first time this season, adding even more excitement to what is already expected to be one of the loudest atmospheres at College Park Center in recent years.
With a sold-out crowd expected, national attention growing around the franchise and the offense already firing at an elite level, Tuesday night presents another opportunity for Dallas to prove its season-opening explosion was not simply an early-season fluke.
If the opener in Indiana was any indication, the Wings may quickly establish themselves as one of the WNBA’s must-watch teams in 2026.
