Dallas enters the matchup at 19-11, while Washington sits at 16-12. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at CareFirst Arena, with the game airing locally in the Dallas-Fort Worth market on KFAA. Ron Thulin will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst Fran Harris.
The Wings travel to Washington with some momentum after a commanding 83-63 home victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. Dallas controlled the game on both ends of the floor, earning its first home win over Connecticut since Aug. 12, 2023, and its first double-digit victory since defeating the Toronto Tempo on July 10.
Jessica Shepard and Arike Ogunbowale led the way offensively with 15 points apiece.
Shepard also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds while adding two assists and one steal. Ogunbowale delivered an especially efficient performance, shooting 7-of-9 from the field for a career-best .778 shooting percentage. She finished with five rebounds, a team-high five assists and one steal in just 22 minutes.
That balanced performance could be important against a Washington team that gave Dallas problems only days ago.
The Wings and Mystics enter Wednesday tied 1-1 in the season series. Their most recent meeting came last Friday in Washington, when the Mystics pulled out an 81-75 victory.
Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 23 points in that loss, while Ogunbowale added 20. The Wings remained within striking distance late, but Washington created separation with key rebounds and clutch free-throw shooting in the closing moments.
Those details figure to be a major focus in the rematch.
Dallas will need to finish defensive possessions more consistently and avoid giving the Mystics extra opportunities on the glass. The Wings will also look to carry over the offensive rhythm they displayed against Connecticut, when they moved the ball effectively and received contributions throughout the rotation.
The matchup offers another test for a Dallas team that has shown the ability to respond quickly after difficult losses. Sunday’s win over the Sun was a strong example, as the Wings bounced back with one of their most complete defensive performances of the season.
Now the challenge is translating that performance to the road.
Washington has been a difficult destination for Dallas in recent seasons. The Wings have lost their last four regular-season games in D.C. and are seeking their first road victory over the Mystics since Aug. 30, 2023.
A win would also give Dallas its first regular-season series victory over Washington since 2023, when the Wings won three of four meetings.
