STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | August 2, 2026 — The Dallas Wings returned home in dominant fashion Sunday night, defeating the Connecticut Sun 83-63 in front of a sold-out crowd at College Park Center.
With the victory, Dallas improved to 19-11 on the season, while Connecticut fell to 7-23. The win marked the Wings’ first home victory over the Sun since Aug. 12, 2023, and their first double-digit win since defeating the Toronto Tempo on July 10.
Dallas was led by a balanced offensive attack, with Jessica Shepard and Arike Ogunbowale each scoring 15 points.
Shepard narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with a team-high nine rebounds to go along with two assists and one steal. Ogunbowale delivered one of her most efficient performances of the season, shooting 7-of-9 from the field for a career-best .778 shooting percentage. She also added five rebounds, a team-high five assists and one steal in 22 minutes.
Azzi Fudd gave Dallas another strong perimeter performance, finishing with 12 points, two rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block. The rookie connected on 4-of-5 attempts from three-point range, marking her fourth game this season with at least four made threes.
Fudd has now recorded 11 games with three or more made three-pointers, the most among WNBA rookies this season.
The Wings were efficient from the opening quarter and never allowed Connecticut to establish consistent offensive rhythm.
After the Sun opened the game with a 5-0 run, Dallas answered with nine straight points. Shepard scored twice during the response, Fudd knocked down a three and Ogunbowale finished in transition to give the Wings their first lead.
Dallas closed the opening quarter ahead 22-16 before creating further separation in the second.
Connecticut trimmed the deficit to 28-25, but the Wings responded with a 14-6 run that pushed the advantage into double figures. Ogunbowale scored six points during the stretch, helping Dallas take a 48-37 lead into halftime.
The Wings shot 55.6 percent from the field in the opening half, continuing a trend of success when their offense starts efficiently.
Dallas broke the game open in the third quarter.
The Wings held Connecticut without a field goal for more than four minutes to begin the second half. After the Sun briefly cut the margin to nine, Dallas responded with eight unanswered points. Fudd buried a three-pointer and Shepard completed an and-one during the run.
Dallas finished the third quarter on a 13-2 surge and carried a commanding 72-45 advantage into the final period.
Connecticut managed only eight points in the quarter, the lowest third-quarter scoring total by a Wings opponent this season.
The Wings led by as many as 31 in the fourth before Connecticut closed the gap against Dallas’ reserves.
For the game, Dallas shot 47.8 percent from the floor while holding Connecticut to 34.3 percent. The Wings also controlled the rebounding battle 38-31 and dominated the paint 46-24.
Dallas’ bench provided a major advantage as well, outscoring Connecticut’s reserves 32-12.
Diamond Miller led the Sun with 22 points and connected on four three-pointers, tying a career high. Olivia Nelson-Ododa paced Connecticut with 11 rebounds.
The Wings are now 4-0 this season when holding opponents below 70 points.
Dallas also improved to 2-0 against Connecticut this year and will host the Sun again Aug. 30 with an opportunity to complete the first regular-season sweep of Connecticut in Wings history.
