STWF Sports | INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana | August 14, 2026 — The Dallas Wings stayed within striking distance for most of Friday night’s matchup with the Indiana Fever, but a decisive fourth-quarter surge sent Dallas to a 98-87 loss at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The game featured 12 ties and 12 lead changes, with neither side able to create lasting separation through three quarters. Dallas entered the fourth holding a 66-63 advantage, but Indiana took control late, outscoring the Wings 35-21 in the final period.
The loss dropped Dallas to 20-15, while Indiana improved to 22-12 and evened the season series at 1-1.
The Impact of the Dallas Wings on the WNBA Season
Paige Bueckers led the Wings with 29 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals in 36 minutes. She scored 17 points in the second half and recorded her sixth game this season with at least 25 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Bueckers was especially effective early, scoring eight first-quarter points as Dallas worked through a slow offensive start. The Wings trailed 17-15 after one quarter before finding more rhythm in the second.
Odyssey Sims provided an important spark before halftime, finishing with 11 points and knocking down a season-high three three-pointers. Dallas outscored Indiana 22-18 in the second quarter and carried a 37-35 lead into the break.
The Wings entered the night shorthanded, with Azzi Fudd and Jessica Shepard sidelined by injuries. Aziaha James also did not travel with the team because of a lower left leg injury.
Dallas continued to push in the third quarter.
Arike Ogunbowale scored seven of the Wings’ first eight points after halftime and helped Dallas regain control after Indiana briefly moved ahead. A 12-4 run later in the quarter gave the Wings a 60-56 advantage before Dallas closed the period ahead by three.
Ogunbowale finished with 20 points and five rebounds, marking her 15th 20-point performance of the season. She scored 17 of those points in the second half.
The game turned immediately in the fourth.
Indiana opened the quarter on a 10-2 run, with Ty Harris connecting on a pair of three-pointers during the stretch. The Fever built their lead to 78-68 before Dallas attempted to respond.
Bueckers stopped the run with a jumper, and Ogunbowale later converted an and-one to pull the Wings within five. Indiana answered with four straight points and did not allow Dallas to get closer than seven the rest of the way.
Caitlin Clark led Indiana with 29 points and 10 assists, while Kelsey Mitchell scored 23 and Aliyah Boston added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Indiana finished the night shooting 52.7 percent from the field and controlled the paint 50-36. Dallas shot 44.1 percent overall but struggled from beyond the arc, converting just 24.1 percent of its three-point attempts.
One bright spot defensively came from Awak Kuier, who finished with eight points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Her performance moved her into a tie with Teaira McCowan atop the Wings’ all-time career blocks list with 103.
Dallas now turns its attention to the final game of its two-game road trip.
The Wings travel to San Francisco to face the Golden State Valkyries on Monday, August 17, at Chase Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.
Dallas and Indiana will meet one final time during the regular season on August 20 at American Airlines Center.
