STWF Sports | PORTLAND, Oregon | July 22, 2026 — The Dallas Wings closed the pre-All-Star portion of their schedule with another impressive road victory, defeating the Portland Fire 101-97 on Wednesday night at Moda Center.
Playing their third game in four days, Dallas leaned on a balanced offensive attack and a historic performance from Jessica Shepard to secure its seventh win in eight games. The Wings improved to 18-9, while Portland fell to 11-16.
Shepard recorded the fifth triple-double of her career, finishing with 18 points, a game-high 15 rebounds and a team-best 10 assists. It was her league-leading fourth triple-double of the season, while her five career triple-doubles moved her into second place on the WNBA’s all-time list.
Arike Ogunbowale led all scorers with 24 points, adding six assists and three rebounds. She delivered her biggest impact in the third quarter, scoring 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting as Dallas seized control of the game.
Paige Bueckers returned after missing Monday’s contest and contributed 21 points, five assists and four rebounds. It marked her 11th performance of the season with at least 20 points and five assists, the second-highest total in the league.
Maddy Siegrist provided an important lift off the bench with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists. Azzi Fudd added 11 points and two steals, giving Dallas five players in double figures.
The Wings overcame a slow start after making only one of their first eight shots. Portland used the early struggles to build a 9-3 lead, but Fudd ended the drought with a 3-pointer. Dallas then responded with a 10-0 run, highlighted by five points from Siegrist, to take an 18-15 advantage.
The Wings held an 18-17 lead after the opening quarter, but Portland regained control before halftime. Dallas briefly stretched its advantage to six in the second period before the Fire answered with a late surge. Carla Leite broke a 40-40 tie, sending Portland into the locker room with a 42-40 lead.
Jessica Shepard’s Historic Performance
Dallas produced its strongest stretch of the night after halftime.
The Wings scored 36 points in the third quarter, matching their season high for points in a period. They shot 62.5 percent from the field and assisted on 13 of their 15 baskets. Ogunbowale’s 15-point quarter gave Dallas the offensive spark it needed, while Shepard distributed six assists, matching her career high for a single period.
Dallas took a 76-69 lead into the fourth quarter and pushed the margin into double figures on a Bueckers 3-pointer. Shepard later increased the advantage to 12, but Portland continued to pressure the Wings down the stretch.
The Fire cut a 10-point deficit to three with just over two minutes remaining. Fudd then connected from deep off Shepard’s 10th assist, officially completing the triple-double. Bueckers followed with another 3-pointer to give Dallas a 99-90 lead with 1:21 left.
Portland responded with seven unanswered points and pulled within 99-97. The Fire had an opportunity to tie or take the lead in the final seconds, but Bridget Carleton’s attempt missed with 3.4 seconds remaining. Siegrist secured the rebound and made two free throws to seal the win.
Dallas shot 48.6 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 79.2 percent at the free-throw line. Portland shot 56.9 percent overall but was hurt by Dallas’ 35-22 rebounding advantage and the Wings’ 16-4 edge in second-chance points.
Megan DiLeo led the Fire with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
The victory improved Dallas to 5-0 this season when scoring at least 100 points.
The Wings now enter the All-Star break with Shepard, Bueckers and Fudd headed to Chicago. Shepard and Bueckers will start in Saturday’s All-Star Game, while Shepard will compete in the Kia WNBA Shooting Stars event and Fudd will participate in the State Farm WNBA 3-Point Contest.
