STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | April 16, 2026 — The Dallas Wings added a familiar and experienced presence to their backcourt Thursday, announcing the signing of veteran guard Odyssey Sims ahead of the 2026 season.

Odyssey Sims: A Key Addition to the Dallas Wings

Sims, the No. 2 overall pick by the franchise in 2014, returns to Dallas for another stint, bringing with her over a decade of professional experience and a proven track record as a dynamic playmaker. The 5-foot-8 guard has spent time across multiple organizations during her 12-year WNBA career, including previous runs with Dallas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Atlanta, Connecticut, and most recently Indiana.

“Odyssey is a veteran guard that can impact the game at both ends of the court,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager Curt Miller in a team release. “She can be a tempo changer for us offensively and adds veteran experience to our young core. We look forward to O building upon her momentum after a successful run in Indiana and a championship season at Athletes Unlimited.”

Sims’ return comes at a critical time for a Wings roster that continues to lean into its youth while seeking stability and leadership in key moments. With rising stars like Paige Bueckers and rookie standout Azzi Fudd expected to play prominent roles, Sims provides a steadying presence capable of orchestrating the offense and elevating the team’s tempo.

During the 2025 WNBA season, Sims split time between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever, ultimately playing a key role in Indiana’s late-season surge. In 12 regular-season games with the Fever, she averaged 10.3 points and 4.0 assists per contest while helping guide the franchise to its first WNBA Semifinals appearance since 2015. Her impact became even more pronounced in the postseason, where she led the team in assists (4.4) and steals (1.4) per game, while finishing second in scoring at 14.4 points per contest.

Her performance underscored her continued ability to contribute at a high level, particularly in high-pressure situations. Known for her quickness, ball-handling, and defensive intensity, Sims remains a guard capable of influencing both ends of the floor.

Beyond the WNBA, Sims enters the 2026 season with significant momentum following a dominant offseason in Athletes Unlimited. She captured the 2026 Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball championship, finishing with 6,764 leaderboard points while averaging 26.2 points per game. Her consistency was on full display, scoring in double figures in all 12 contests and further cementing her status as one of the most accomplished players in the league’s format. Notably, Sims also became the first player in Athletes Unlimited history to surpass 30,000 career leaderboard points.

For Dallas, the signing represents more than just a reunion—it’s a strategic addition aimed at balancing a roster filled with emerging talent. Sims’ familiarity with the organization, combined with her leadership and postseason experience, provides the Wings with a reliable option in the backcourt rotation.

A native of Irving, Texas, Sims’ return also carries a homegrown element. Her decorated collegiate career at Baylor University included leading the program to a national championship in 2012, establishing her as one of the top guards in the country before transitioning to the professional ranks.

As the Wings prepare for training camp, Sims’ presence is expected to play a key role in shaping the team’s identity. Her ability to manage pace, create opportunities for teammates, and deliver in critical moments aligns with Dallas’ ambitions of contending in an increasingly competitive WNBA landscape.

With a blend of veteran leadership and ascending young stars, the Wings continue to build a roster designed not only for growth—but for immediate impact in 2026.
