STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | August, 19, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will look to quickly turn the page Wednesday night when they continue their six-game series against the Wichita Wind Surge at Riders Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT, with right-hander Ben Anderson (2-5, 6.24 ERA) set to start for Frisco against Wichita right-hander Riley Quick (0-2, 5.68 ERA).
Frisco enters the second game of the series at 24-22 in the second half and 63-51 overall after suffering one of its most difficult losses of the season Tuesday night.
The RoughRiders appeared to have the opener under control after building a five-run advantage and carrying a 9-4 lead into the ninth inning, but Wichita produced a six-run rally to steal a 10-9 victory.
Caden Kendle started the late charge with a two-run home run before Jay Thomason delivered the biggest swing of the night, launching a go-ahead grand slam. Kyle Bischoff then closed out the comeback for Wichita with his fifth save.
Frisco RoughRiders’ Path to Redemption
The loss overshadowed another productive offensive performance from a Frisco lineup that continues to rank among the best in Double-A.
Rafe Perich opened the scoring for the Riders with a three-run homer in the first inning, while Corey Joyce added a solo shot. Max Wagner provided another long ball in the eighth, extending Frisco’s lead to five runs before Wichita’s dramatic comeback.
Despite the result, the RoughRiders remain one of the most dangerous offensive clubs in the minors.
Through 114 games, Frisco leads Double-A with 1,047 hits and a .270 batting average. The Riders are also second in Double-A with 682 runs, averaging six per game, while ranking first in doubles and slugging percentage.
Few hitters have been hotter than Dylan Dreiling.
The Rangers’ No. 13 prospect enters Wednesday on a 12-game hitting streak, batting .420 during that stretch with five doubles, five home runs, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored. Over his last 31 games, Dreiling has produced a .375 batting average, 10 homers and 26 RBIs.
His 21 home runs are already the most by a RoughRiders player since Blaine Crim hit 24 in 2022 and represent the most by a center fielder in franchise history.
Wagner has provided another significant source of power.
The infielder has 16 home runs this season and has gone deep 13 times over his last 39 games. His production from the bottom of the batting order has been especially impressive, with 14 homers coming from the eighth and ninth spots — the most in Minor League Baseball.
Frisco will also continue to watch the progress of Sebastian Walcott, the Rangers’ No. 1 prospect. Walcott returned from the injured list Aug. 12 after missing time following a pickoff throw that struck him in the head.
Through his first 18 games this season, Walcott has hit .311 with nine doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs.
Wednesday’s matchup also provides another opportunity for Frisco’s offense to attack late.
The RoughRiders have scored 245 runs in the seventh inning or later, the most in Double-A, and their 96 eighth-inning runs lead the Texas League. The Riders have repeatedly shown an ability to change games late, although Tuesday served as a reminder that no lead is completely secure.
Frisco has already secured its place in the postseason after winning the Texas League South Division first-half championship with a 39-29 record. The playoff berth is the organization’s 11th and gives the Riders another opportunity to chase their third championship after titles in 2004 and 2022.
For now, the focus is much simpler.
After watching a five-run ninth-inning advantage disappear Tuesday, the RoughRiders have an immediate chance Wednesday night to respond and even the series against Wichita.
