STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 6, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders close out their six-game series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Sunday afternoon at Riders Field, looking to rebound from a frustrating late-inning loss and finish the homestand on a positive note.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Left-hander Thomas Ireland (1-0, 9.30 ERA) is expected to start for Frisco against Amarillo right-hander David Hagaman (1-1, 2.52).
The RoughRiders enter the finale at 30-32 in the second half and 69-61 overall after dropping Saturday’s game, 6-5. Frisco led 5-1 through four innings before Amarillo steadily erased the deficit.
Frisco RoughRiders’ Path to Victory
The Riders took a 2-1 lead in the first behind RBI singles from Marcus Lee Sang and Keith Jones II, then added three more runs in the fourth. Yeison Morrobel, Malcolm Moore and Gleider Figuereo opened the inning with three consecutive doubles before Rafe Perich drew a bases-loaded walk.
Amarillo, however, responded with three runs in the fifth, tied the game on an Angel Ortiz solo homer in the seventh and completed the comeback on a Jean Walter RBI groundout in the eighth.
For Frisco, the challenge Sunday will be turning early offensive production into a complete nine-inning performance.
The RoughRiders have been one of the most productive offensive clubs in Double-A this season. Through 130 games, Frisco leads Double-A with 1,210 hits and a .272 batting average while ranking second with 789 runs, an average of 6.0 per game.
The Riders have also set franchise records for runs scored and home runs while producing the best on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS marks in club history.
Dylan Dreiling remains one of the biggest reasons for that offensive success.
The Rangers’ No. 13 prospect carries a 25-game hitting streak into Sunday and leads the Texas League with a .317 batting average. During the streak, Dreiling is batting .407 with 10 doubles, six home runs, 24 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
His 22 home runs are the most by a RoughRider since Blaine Crim hit 24 in 2022 and the most ever by a center fielder in franchise history. Dreiling also led all of Minor League Baseball with a .429 batting average in August.
Max Wagner continues to supply power alongside him. Wagner has 20 home runs this season, making he and Dreiling the first RoughRiders teammates to reach 20 homers in the same season since 2012.
Sebastian Walcott has also been a major presence since returning from elbow surgery. The Rangers’ top prospect enters the finale riding a 10-game hitting streak and is batting .400 during that stretch with four doubles, four home runs and 19 runs scored.
Frisco’s late-inning production remains another strength. The RoughRiders lead Double-A with 272 runs scored in the seventh inning or later and have produced a league-best 107 runs in the eighth inning.
The pitching staff will look for stability behind Ireland. Frisco leaned heavily on its bullpen in August, when relievers threw a Double-A-high 134.1 innings. Since July 29, the Riders are 14-20, with 13 of those 14 wins coming when they score at least six runs.
That offensive threshold has become significant. Frisco is just 1-16 during that stretch when scoring five runs or fewer.
Despite the recent inconsistency, the RoughRiders have already secured their postseason spot after winning the Texas League South Division first-half championship with a 39-29 record.
Sunday’s finale offers another opportunity to refine both sides of the game before the postseason arrives.
Against an Amarillo club that has repeatedly proven capable of late rallies, the RoughRiders will look to give Ireland early support, protect any advantage they build and close the series with momentum at Riders Field.
