MiLB Preview: Riders Red-Hot Frisco RoughRiders Looks to Extend Streak in Corpus Christi

STWF Sports | CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas | April 30, 2026  The Frisco RoughRiders look to extend their red-hot run Thursday night as they face the Corpus Christi Hooks in game three of their six-game series at Whataburger Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. CT, with right-hander Winston Santos taking the mound for Frisco opposite Corpus Christi’s James Hicks.

Frisco RoughRiders: A Team on the Rise

Frisco (13-10) enters the matchup riding a five-game winning streak, fueled by one of the most explosive offensive stretches in the Texas League this season. The RoughRiders have not only found consistency at the plate but have overwhelmed opponents with early scoring and relentless pressure throughout the lineup.

The series has already showcased Frisco’s offensive firepower. In Wednesday’s 10-4 victory, the RoughRiders jumped out early and never relinquished control, continuing a trend that has defined their recent success. During the current winning streak, Frisco has scored 43 runs — an average of 8.6 runs per game — while posting a .293 team batting average and leading the league in multiple offensive categories.

Perhaps most striking has been the RoughRiders’ ability to strike in the opening inning. Frisco has scored in the first frame in each of its last five games, totaling 14 runs during that stretch. That early aggression has consistently put opponents on their heels and allowed the pitching staff to work with a cushion.

The lineup’s depth continues to stand out as a defining strength. Outfielder Orlando Martinez has been one of the league’s most productive hitters, leading the Texas League in doubles while maintaining a .329 batting average. His recent stretch has been particularly impressive, as he has consistently delivered extra-base hits and driven in runs in key moments.

Marcus Lee Sang has been equally impactful, emerging as a cornerstone of the offense. Over his last 12 games, Lee Sang has slashed .425, showcasing both power and consistency. His ability to produce in high-leverage situations has added another dimension to an already potent lineup.

Frainyer Chavez continues to anchor the top of the order, reaching base in 21 of 22 games this season while leading the league in runs scored. Chavez’s combination of discipline and aggressiveness on the basepaths has set the tone for Frisco’s offensive approach.

Collectively, the RoughRiders lead the Texas League in hits, batting average, and runs scored, underscoring their transformation into one of the most dangerous offensive teams in Double-A baseball.

On the mound, the focus turns to Santos (0-1, 13.50 ERA), who will look to find his rhythm against a Corpus Christi lineup that has shown flashes of production. While Santos’ early-season numbers reflect some struggles, the right-hander has an opportunity to benefit from strong run support and establish himself within a rotation that continues to evolve.

Opposing him, Hicks (1-2, 3.79 ERA) has been more consistent for the Hooks, providing stability and the ability to limit damage. For Corpus Christi, containing Frisco’s high-powered offense will be the primary challenge as they attempt to halt the RoughRiders’ momentum.

Historically, Frisco has enjoyed success in this matchup, posting a strong record against Corpus Christi in recent seasons. That familiarity, combined with current form, gives the RoughRiders a clear advantage entering Thursday’s contest.

For Frisco, the formula remains straightforward: continue applying early offensive pressure, capitalize on scoring opportunities, and receive a composed outing from the starting rotation. If those elements align, the RoughRiders will be well-positioned to extend their winning streak and maintain control of the series.

As the RoughRiders take the field under the South Texas lights, they do so as one of the hottest teams in the league — and a club determined to keep its momentum rolling.
