MiLB Recap: Frisco RoughRiders Explode for 10 Runs, Crush Naturals in Statement Win

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | May 5, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders could not have scripted a much better start to their six-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals after an offensive outburst and dominant pitching performance powered Frisco to a convincing 10-3 victory Tuesday morning at Riders Field.

Now sitting at 15-13 on the season, the RoughRiders will look to carry that momentum into the middle portion of the series after showcasing the type of balanced baseball that has made them one of the more dangerous clubs in the Texas League when firing on all cylinders.

Why the Frisco RoughRiders are a Force in the Texas League

Tuesday’s Education Day contest, presented by Collin College, featured contributions throughout the lineup and a statement outing from left-handed starter Josh Trentadue, who delivered his strongest performance of the 2026 campaign.

Frisco struck first in the second inning when Corey Joyce continued his breakout season by launching a solo home run down the left-field line. The blast gave the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead and further cemented Joyce’s surprising emergence as one of the club’s most productive power bats early in the season.

The 27-year-old now leads Frisco with six home runs after hitting just two long balls in 92 games for Double-A Knoxville last year. His sudden offensive surge has added another layer to an already dangerous Riders lineup.

The RoughRiders expanded their advantage in the fourth inning with one swing that electrified the Education Day crowd. Catcher Ian Moller crushed a towering 467-foot two-run home run into left-center field, marking the longest homer hit by a Frisco player this season.

Moller’s blast highlighted a three-run inning and immediately shifted momentum completely in Frisco’s favor.

An inning later, the RoughRiders buried Northwest Arkansas with a six-run offensive explosion. Dylan Dreiling delivered the biggest blow of the frame with a three-run homer before Keyber Rodriguez followed by sending the very next pitch over the wall for a solo shot. By the end of the fifth inning, Frisco had built a commanding 10-0 lead after sending 11 hitters to the plate.

While the offense grabbed headlines, Trentadue quietly dominated on the mound.

The left-hander worked five scoreless innings while allowing only one hit and striking out six Naturals hitters. Trentadue established season highs in innings pitched and strikeouts while also surrendering his fewest hits and runs in a start this season.

More importantly for Frisco, Trentadue looked increasingly comfortable attacking hitters early in counts and keeping Northwest Arkansas off balance with a sharp mix of pitches.

The Naturals managed to avoid the shutout late thanks to home runs from Brett Squires and Carson Roccaforte across the seventh and eighth innings, but the damage had long since been done.

As the series continues, the RoughRiders will attempt to build consistency offensively while maintaining the aggressive approach that overwhelmed Northwest Arkansas in the opener.

Frisco’s lineup has shown flashes of being capable of producing runs in bunches this season, especially with prospects like Dreiling and Moller beginning to find rhythm at the plate. The recent emergence of Joyce has also provided the club with additional depth and veteran leadership in key situations.

Pitching will remain another major storyline moving forward. Trentadue’s breakout outing could provide a boost to a Frisco rotation still searching for consistency as the season progresses.

With both clubs entering the series opener tied at 15-13, the RoughRiders now have an opportunity to gain ground in the Texas League standings and seize momentum during an important homestand at Riders Field.

If Tuesday’s performance was any indication, Frisco may be beginning to hit its stride at exactly the right time.
