STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | June 2, 2026 — Riders Field will have a major league feel Tuesday afternoon. Texas Rangers standouts Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford are both scheduled to begin rehab assignments with the Frisco RoughRiders when Frisco hosts the Springfield Cardinals at 12:05 p.m. on June 2. The appearance brings two of the Rangers’ most recognizable bats to Double-A as both continue working their way back from injury.
For fans, the timing adds extra energy to an already attractive weekday matchup. With Seager and Langford expected to appear, the RoughRiders are offering $5 off lawn and seating bowl tickets as part of a special flash sale.
Seager’s return to game action is one of the bigger developments for the Rangers. The five-time All-Star shortstop was placed on the 10-day injured list May 18 with lower back inflammation. Before the injury, he had remained one of Texas’ most dangerous power threats, tying for the club lead with seven home runs through 42 games.
Corey Seager’s Impact on the Rangers
Since joining the Rangers ahead of the 2022 season, Seager has been one of the most productive shortstops in baseball. Across his Texas tenure, he has posted an .854 OPS, the best mark among qualified major league shortstops since 2022. His bat has been central to the Rangers’ lineup, but his postseason résumé is what has elevated him into franchise lore.
Seager helped lead Texas to its first World Series championship in 2023, earning World Series MVP honors after a dominant Fall Classic against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He homered in three of the five games and finished that postseason hitting .318 with six home runs in 17 games. His balance of power and plate discipline stood out, as he recorded 12 extra-base hits and 12 RBI while striking out only 12 times.
That performance made Seager just the fourth player in MLB history to win multiple World Series MVP awards. He previously won the honor with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020, the same year he also captured NLCS MVP. Seager began his big league career with seven seasons in Los Angeles and was named National League Rookie of the Year in 2016.
Tuesday will mark Seager’s second rehab assignment with the Rangers organization. He previously appeared in three games with Frisco in 2023, collecting two hits in eight at-bats. That assignment was also his first appearance in the Texas League since 2015, when he hit .375 with five home runs over 20 games for the Tulsa Drillers during their first season as a Dodgers affiliate. He made his major league debut later that year.
Langford’s assignment also gives Frisco fans another chance to see one of the Rangers’ brightest young players up close.
The 24-year-old outfielder, selected by Texas in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Florida, is continuing the second minor league stop of his rehab assignment. He joins Frisco from Triple-A Round Rock after being placed on the 10-day injured list April 22 with a right forearm strain.
Langford debuted with the Rangers in 2024 and has quickly established himself as a key piece of the organization’s future. Through his first 288 major league games, he has hit .246 with a .749 OPS while producing 7.5 WAR. That total ranks eighth among American League outfielders since the start of the 2024 season.
In 2025, Langford flashed the blend of power, speed and athleticism that made him one of the most exciting prospects in baseball. He was one of only four MLB players under the age of 24 to record at least 20 doubles, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
Frisco is already familiar territory for Langford.
In 12 games with the RoughRiders during the 2023 season, he hit .405 with four home runs, 10 RBI and 11 walks. During a rehab stint with Frisco last season, Langford homered twice in three games, giving RoughRiders fans a preview of the impact bat he can bring when healthy.
For the RoughRiders, Tuesday’s game now becomes more than a series opener against Springfield. It becomes a showcase of two major league talents working their way back toward Arlington.
For the Rangers, the rehab assignments represent important steps for a lineup looking to regain full strength. For fans in Frisco, it is a rare chance to watch a two-time World Series MVP and one of baseball’s rising young outfielders share the same minor league stage.
