STWF Sports| FRISCO, Texas| September 5, 2026 — FC Dallas marked its long-awaited return to Toyota Stadium with one of its most dramatic victories of the season, rallying past Sporting Kansas City, 4-3, on Saturday night.
Dallas improved to 10-6-7 with 37 points, while Sporting Kansas City fell to 4-16-3 with 15 points. The match featured seven goals, a two-goal comeback and another milestone performance from Petar Musa, who scored twice to tie the FC Dallas single-season scoring record.
Sporting Kansas City stunned the home crowd by jumping out to an early two-goal advantage, but Dallas responded with the resilience head coach Eric Quill has praised throughout the season.
Logan Farrington started the comeback in the 28th minute, scoring his eighth goal of the year after linking up with Musa. It marked the second time this season Musa has assisted Farrington on a goal, and the strike gave Dallas the spark it needed.
Key Moments in the FC Dallas Comeback
The Hoops continued to push before halftime.
Midfielder Kaick delivered the equalizer in the 45th minute, finishing a chance created by Farrington. The goal was Kaick’s second of the season and helped Dallas erase what had been a nightmare start.
Musa then took over.
The Croatian forward scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season, moving into a tie with Lionel Messi atop the 2026 MLS Golden Boot race. More importantly for the club record book, Musa matched the FC Dallas single-season mark with 18 goals.
He is now the only player in club history to score at least 18 goals in consecutive seasons, and his next goal would establish a new FC Dallas single-season record. Musa is also within striking distance of another milestone, sitting two goals shy of Jesús Ferreira’s 53 goals for second place on the club’s all-time scoring list.
Dallas eventually moved ahead, but the match refused to settle.
Sporting Kansas City found an equalizer to make it 3-3, creating another tense finish. Rather than protecting the draw, Dallas continued pushing forward and found the decisive goal to secure all three points.
Quill said that mentality reflected the identity he wants from his team.
Even after the match was tied late, Dallas continued making aggressive decisions in search of a winner rather than settling for a point. That approach ultimately paid off in a night defined by persistence.
The victory was especially meaningful because it marked FC Dallas’ first match at Toyota Stadium in nearly four months.
During the extended road stretch, Dallas traveled more than 15,000 miles across three countries. The club will now spend much more time in Frisco, with seven of its final 11 regular-season matches scheduled at home.
The return also coincided with the opening of the renovated East Side of Toyota Stadium as part of the venue’s more than $215 million transformation. An announced crowd of 10,925 helped provide the energy Dallas needed during its comeback.
There was some concern after the match surrounding Musa, who appeared to be dealing with a shoulder injury late in the contest. Quill said the club planned further evaluation, including imaging, before determining his availability for Wednesday.
The night also carried emotional significance for Quill, who dedicated the victory to former teammate Bobby Rhine.
Dallas will now turn its attention back to the road.
FC Dallas travels to face Minnesota United FC on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. CT. With Musa chasing history and the attack producing at a high level, Dallas enters the final stretch of the season with momentum and growing confidence.
