Texas Repeats as National Champions
The Texas Longhorns are once again the queens of college softball.
Texas defeated Texas Tech 4-1 in Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series Championship Series to complete a two-game sweep and capture its second consecutive national championship. The Longhorns finished the season with a 53-12 record and cemented their place among the sport’s elite programs.
Led by dominant pitching, timely hitting, and veteran leadership, Texas navigated a challenging postseason run before closing out the title in Oklahoma City. Head coach Mike White guided the Longhorns to back-to-back national championships, a feat accomplished by only a select few programs in NCAA softball history.
Teagan Kavan was instrumental throughout the postseason, delivering another remarkable Women’s College World Series performance and helping Texas control the championship series from start to finish.
For Texas Tech, the season ends with disappointment but also pride. The Red Raiders reached the WCWS Championship Series for the second consecutive season and continued to establish themselves as one of the nation’s premier softball programs. Their run to Oklahoma City showcased the growth and consistency of a program that has become a national contender.
