Thibodaux Native Brody Trosclair Transfers from Northwestern State to Tennessee
One of Louisiana’s brightest young baseball talents is heading to the SEC.
Former Northwestern State left-handed pitcher Brody Trosclair has announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. The Thibodaux native chose the Volunteers over a list of powerhouse programs that reportedly included LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, and Florida.
Trosclair quickly became one of the most sought-after pitchers in the portal after an outstanding freshman season with the Demons. Before an arm injury cut his season short in April, the former Thibodaux High standout posted a 5-1 record with a 1.89 ERA in 38 innings. He struck out 55 batters while holding opposing hitters to a .222 batting average. His performance earned him Southland Conference Freshman of the Year honors and placed him among the top freshman pitchers in the country.
Trosclair’s rise has been rapid. A graduate of Thibodaux High School, he was an All-State pitcher and one of the top arms in Louisiana before signing with Northwestern State University. He made an immediate impact in Natchitoches, emerging as one of the premier young pitchers in the Southland Conference.
For Tennessee, the addition provides another high-upside arm as the Volunteers continue rebuilding their pitching staff through the transfer portal. Despite being only a freshman, Trosclair still has three years of eligibility remaining and is not eligible for the MLB Draft until 2028, making him a valuable long-term piece for the program.
While Northwestern State loses a cornerstone of its future pitching staff, Trosclair’s move represents another example of a Louisiana player earning an opportunity on one of college baseball’s biggest stages. As he heads to Knoxville, expectations will be high for the left-hander who has already proven he can dominate at the Division I level.
For fans in Thibodaux and across Louisiana, Trosclair’s journey from local standout to SEC pitcher is a story worth following as he begins the next chapter of his baseball career with the Tennessee Volunteers Baseball.
