STWF Sports | BROOKLYN, N.Y. | July 7, 2026 — The Dallas Wings continue their road swing Tuesday night with a matchup that brings history, momentum and national attention to Barclays Center.
The Dallas Wings’ Road Momentum
Dallas visits the New York Liberty on July 7 at 7 p.m. CT in a nationally televised game on ESPN. Beth Mowins will handle play-by-play duties, joined by analysts Geno Auriemma and Robin Roberts, with Holly Rowe reporting from the sideline.
The Wings enter the matchup at 13-8, fresh off an 89-76 road win over the Toronto Tempo in the first-ever meeting between the two franchises. New York also sits at 13-8, setting up a key regular-season showdown between two clubs trying to strengthen their positioning as the second half of the season unfolds.
Dallas’ win in Toronto was one of its most complete efforts of the year. All active players logged minutes, all five starters scored in double figures and the Wings controlled the game from start to finish. It marked the seventh time this season Dallas has had five players score at least 10 points, and the Wings are now 7-0 in those games.
Paige Bueckers continued her strong run, leading Dallas with 22 points, three rebounds and seven assists against the Tempo. Her scoring consistency has become the engine of the Wings’ offense, but her command as a playmaker has been just as important. When Bueckers is creating early, Dallas’ spacing and tempo become difficult to slow.
Azzi Fudd also stayed hot in Toronto, finishing with 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Her two-way production has been one of the biggest developments of the Wings’ season. Fudd’s shooting gives Dallas another elite perimeter threat, while her defensive activity continues to generate extra possessions.
Tuesday’s matchup also carries a major storyline for Fudd. The last time Dallas faced New York, she delivered one of the best rookie performances in Wings history.
In the May 24 meeting at Barclays Center, Fudd scored a team-high 24 points in Dallas’ 91-76 win. At the time, it was a career best. She added two rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks while making six three-pointers, the most ever by a rookie in Wings history.
Her third quarter that night was the breakout moment. Fudd scored 17 points in the period, tying for the second-most points by a rookie in a quarter since the WNBA moved to quarters in 2006. It was also the most by a rookie in a single quarter since Rhyne Howard did it in 2022.
Dallas will be looking for another strong performance in Brooklyn as it tries to win multiple games against the Liberty in a regular-season series for the first time since 2022. A victory Tuesday would also mark the first time since the franchise relocated to North Texas that the Wings have earned multiple road wins over New York in the same season.
The all-time regular-season series between the Liberty and Wings is tied 43-43, adding another layer to the matchup. Dallas’ win earlier this season was also its first road victory over New York since July 19, 2023.
New York enters after a strong 99-86 home win over the Minnesota Lynx on July 3. The Liberty had five players score in double figures, led by Breanna Stewart’s dominant 36-point performance. Stewart added seven rebounds and two blocks, reminding the league why she remains one of the toughest matchups in basketball.
For Dallas, slowing Stewart will be a priority, but the challenge goes beyond one player. New York’s depth, shooting and championship-tested core can punish defensive mistakes quickly. The Wings will need strong communication, clean rotations and a disciplined approach on the glass.
Jessica Shepard’s rebounding and passing will be central for Dallas. Her presence inside gives the Wings a stabilizer when games get physical, and her ability to create from the frontcourt helps Dallas keep the ball moving. Arike Ogunbowale’s scoring threat and Awak Kuier’s length will also be important pieces in a matchup that could swing on defensive versatility.
The Wings have already shown they can win in Brooklyn this season. Now, they return with a chance to make another statement.
After back-to-back road wins over Connecticut and Toronto, Dallas enters Barclays Center with confidence, balance and a chance to separate itself in a crowded playoff race. Tuesday night offers a measuring-stick opportunity — and the Wings have already proven they are comfortable on this stage..
