WNBA Preview: Dallas Wings Return Home Riding Four-Game Win Streak for Matchup With Sky

STWF Sports | DALLAS, Texas | July 12, 2026 — The Dallas Wings return to North Texas on Sunday night carrying their strongest momentum of the season, opening a three-game American Airlines Center slate against the Chicago Sky at 6 p.m. CT.

Dallas enters the matchup at 15-8 after completing a perfect four-game road trip, while Chicago arrives at 7-15 looking to halt a difficult stretch. The nationally televised contest will air on ESPN, with Tiffany Greene handling play-by-play, Carolyn Peck serving as analyst and Brooke Weisbrod reporting from the sideline.

Sunday’s game will be the first of three Wings appearances at American Airlines Center this season. Dallas is also scheduled to face the Golden State Valkyries on Aug. 7 and the Indiana Fever on Aug. 20 at the downtown venue.

The Importance of the Dallas Wings in the WNBA Playoffs

The Wings return home after making history in Montreal, where they defeated the Toronto Tempo 108-95 on Friday night before 20,996 fans at Bell Centre. The crowd established a new WNBA regular-season attendance record and witnessed the league’s first game played in Montreal.

Paige Bueckers delivered the headline performance, scoring a season-high 34 points while adding six rebounds and six assists. She shot 13-of-22 from the field and led five Dallas players in double figures as the Wings overcame an early 13-point deficit.

The win extended Dallas’ streak to four games, matching its longest run of the season. It also marked the franchise’s first four-game road winning streak since 2022.

Jessica Shepard continued her productive season with 20 points and 17 rebounds against Toronto, while Arike Ogunbowale added 20 points and seven assists. Azzi Fudd scored 13, and Alysha Clark supplied a season-high 10 points off the bench, all during a dominant fourth quarter.

Dallas outscored Toronto 24-10 in the final period and held the Tempo without a made 3-pointer over the closing 10 minutes. The Wings have now scored at least 100 points four times this season and are unbeaten in those games.

Chicago represents a familiar opponent. Dallas has won the first two meetings of the 2026 regular-season series and can complete a season sweep with another victory Sunday. The Wings have not swept the Sky in a regular-season series since 2014, when the franchise played in Tulsa.

The most recent matchup produced one of Dallas’ most dramatic victories of the season. On June 20 in Arlington, the Wings erased a 17-point second-half deficit and escaped with a 93-92 win.

Shepard led Dallas in that contest with 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal. The Wings scored 36 points in the fourth quarter, using a late surge to turn what appeared to be a comfortable Chicago advantage into a one-point win.

That comeback offered an early glimpse of the resilience Dallas has displayed throughout its current streak. The Wings have shown the ability to win in different ways, combining high-level offensive efficiency with timely defensive stops.

Chicago enters Sunday following a 102-87 road loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. Center Kamilla Cardoso and rookie guards Gabriela Jaquez and Sydney Taylor each scored 15 points for the Sky.

Cardoso’s presence inside will provide another test for Shepard and the Dallas frontcourt, particularly on the glass and around the rim. Chicago will also need more defensive consistency after allowing Los Angeles to surpass 100 points.

For Dallas, the primary challenge will be maintaining its focus after an emotional road trip that included a historic atmosphere and several high-profile performances. The Wings have emerged as one of the league’s hottest teams, but Sunday offers an opportunity to turn that momentum into another meaningful result at home.

A victory would give Dallas five consecutive wins, complete the season sweep of Chicago and provide a successful opening to its American Airlines Center schedule. With the national spotlight on downtown Dallas, the Wings will look to keep their surge moving forward.
