STWF Sports | TORONTO | July 5, 2026 — The Dallas Wings made their first trip to face the Toronto Tempo a memorable one, delivering a wire-to-wire 89-76 road win Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Key Players in the Dallas Wings’ Historic Win
The victory improved Dallas to 13-8, marking the best start through 21 games in franchise history. Toronto dropped to 9-11 in its expansion season.
Dallas controlled the game from the opening minutes, using early three-point shooting, balanced scoring and a dominant rebounding performance to set the tone. All five Wings starters finished in double figures, and every active Dallas player logged minutes. It marked the seventh time this season the Wings have had five players score at least 10 points, with Dallas improving to 7-0 in those games.
Paige Bueckers once again led the way, finishing with a game-high 22 points, three rebounds and seven assists. It was her 12th 20-point game of the season, moving her into sole possession of second place in the WNBA in that category. Bueckers has now scored at least 22 points in five straight games, the longest active streak in the league.
Azzi Fudd added 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. The rookie guard hit five three-pointers, becoming the only first-year player this season with multiple games of at least five made threes. Fudd also surpassed 20 career blocks, becoming the fastest guard in WNBA history to reach that mark.
Jessica Shepard continued her outstanding season on the glass, recording her 12th double-double with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. She tied her season high with six offensive boards and now has six games this season with at least 15 rebounds, the most in the league.
Arike Ogunbowale and Awak Kuier each scored 10 points to round out Dallas’ double-digit scorers. Ogunbowale added a season-high six rebounds, while Kuier delivered a strong two-way outing with six rebounds, one steal and a season-high three blocks.
The Wings shot 44 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range, while holding Toronto to 38.9 percent overall. Dallas won the rebounding battle 42-35, controlled second-chance points 20-6 and held a 38-32 edge in the paint.
Dallas wasted no time taking control. The Wings opened the game on a 9-2 run behind three-pointers from Fudd, Bueckers and Kuier. Toronto responded with two threes from former Wings guard Marina Mabrey, but Dallas answered with eight straight points to take a 17-8 lead into the first media timeout.
The Wings were scorching early, making five of their first six shots from beyond the arc. Dallas led by as many as 14 in the first quarter before Nyara Sabally hit a buzzer-beating three to trim the advantage to 30-19. The 30-point quarter was Dallas’ highest-scoring first quarter of the season, and the Wings are now 6-0 when scoring at least 30 points in any quarter.
Toronto found a response in the second. The Tempo closed the half on an 11-3 run, cutting Dallas’ lead to 47-42 at the break. Fudd led the Wings with 12 first-half points, while Bueckers added 10 points and five assists.
The Tempo opened the third with a basket from Isabelle Harrison to make it a one-possession game, but Dallas quickly steadied. The Wings ripped off eight straight points, including four from Shepard, to push the lead back to 55-44. Toronto made another push late in the quarter, but Dallas closed strong and entered the fourth ahead 71-59.
The Tempo trimmed the deficit to nine early in the fourth, but Bueckers and Ogunbowale delivered the answer. Bueckers scored four points during a key Dallas push, and Ogunbowale added an and-one conversion to stretch the lead to 82-66 with under four minutes to play.
Toronto never got closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Mabrey led the Tempo with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. Sabally added 14 points, Harrison finished with 13 and Kia Nurse scored 12 off the bench.
Dallas will face Toronto again Friday, July 10, in Montreal. Before that, the Wings continue their road trip Tuesday against the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.
