WNBA Recap: Dallas Wings Rally From 17 Down to Stun Chicago Sky in One-Point Thriller

STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | June 20, 2026 The Dallas Wings looked buried midway through the second half Saturday night. Chicago controlled the pace, owned the glass and led for nearly the entire game.

Then Dallas found a late gear.

The Wings erased a 17-point second-half deficit and stunned the Chicago Sky, 93-92, in front of a sold-out crowd at College Park Center. The comeback was sealed with 12.5 seconds remaining, when Li Yueru calmly knocked down two free throws to give Dallas its first lead of the night and ultimately the win.

With the victory, Dallas improved to 10-6, matching its entire 2025 regular-season win total. Chicago dropped to 4-11.

The Resilience of the Dallas Wings

It was the kind of win that can shift energy inside a locker room. Dallas trailed by as many as 17 points and entered the fourth quarter down 71-57, but the Wings responded with a 36-point final period — the fourth-largest single-quarter scoring output in franchise history and their highest since a 2024 comeback win over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Jessica Shepard led Dallas with 21 points, a team-high eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in 34 minutes. It marked her third 20-point game of the season and fifth of her WNBA career. Shepard gave the Wings needed stability inside, especially as Chicago’s frontcourt controlled long stretches of the game.

Paige Bueckers delivered one of the biggest closing stretches of her young career, finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one block. Most importantly, she scored 10 of Dallas’ final 12 points over the last 2:27 of the fourth quarter, repeatedly attacking the defense and keeping the Wings alive possession by possession.

Dallas also received a strong two-way performance from rookie Azzi Fudd, who finished with 13 points, a career-high five rebounds, two assists, one steal and a career-high four blocks in 33 minutes. Fudd became the only rookie guard in Wings history to record at least four blocks in a regular-season game. She also joined Seattle’s Flau’jae Johnson as the only rookies in the WNBA this season to reach that defensive mark.

Arike Ogunbowale rounded out the Wings’ double-digit scorers with 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. It was her 11th double-digit scoring game of the season.

Chicago appeared to have control for much of the night behind Kamilla Cardoso, who led the Sky with 26 points and nine rebounds. The Sky shot 47.1 percent from the field and dominated points in the paint, 48-38, while also winning the rebounding battle, 43-35.

But Dallas stayed close enough to make a final push.

The Wings shot 45.2 percent overall, 40 percent from three-point range and 81 percent at the free-throw line. That efficiency mattered late, especially compared to Chicago’s 65.5 percent mark from the stripe. Dallas also won the second-chance points battle, 17-10, and held a 15-9 edge in fast-break scoring.

The late rally was Dallas’ largest comeback since overcoming a 22-point deficit against the Sparks on Aug. 25, 2024. Saturday’s win carried a similar feel: frantic, physical and powered by late-game shot-making.

For a team still building chemistry and learning how to close difficult games, the victory offered a major proof point. The Wings did not lead until the final seconds, but they kept pressuring Chicago until the Sky finally cracked.

Dallas and Chicago will meet one more time during the 2026 regular season on Sunday, July 12, at American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas.

Next up, the Wings head back on the road to face the Seattle Storm on Monday, June 22, at 9 p.m. CT. The game will air locally on KFAA and stream on WNBA League Pass.
