STWF Sports | Littlerock, Arkansas | May 29, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Dickey-Stephens Park on Wednesday evening looking to continue one of their hottest stretches of the season as they face the Arkansas Travelers in a pivotal doubleheader.
Frisco enters the twin bill at 24-21 after producing one of its most dramatic victories of the year Tuesday night, rallying from a six-run deficit to defeat Arkansas 8-7 in 10 innings. The comeback victory extended the RoughRiders’ strong recent run and once again showcased the relentless offense that has become one of the best in the Texas League.
Why the Frisco RoughRiders Are a Team to Watch
The doubleheader opens at 5:05 p.m. with right-hander Winston Santos taking the mound against Arkansas lefty Kade Anderson in game one. In game two, left-hander Dalton Pence will oppose Travelers right-hander Ryan Hawks.
Tuesday’s win may ultimately become one of the defining moments of Frisco’s season.
Trailing 7-1 after three innings, the RoughRiders slowly chipped away at the deficit before finally completing the comeback in extra innings. Frainyer Chavez sparked the rally with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning before Dylan Dreiling delivered a two-run single that cut the lead to 7-4.
The offense continued applying pressure throughout the night.
Corey Joyce later worked another bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning, Orlando Martinez added an RBI single in the seventh, and Chavez tied the game with a clutch RBI double later in the inning.
Then in the 10th inning, John Taylor delivered the decisive blow with a go-ahead RBI single that scored Chavez and gave Frisco its first lead of the game. Wilian Bormie closed the door in the bottom half to secure the victory.
The comeback further highlighted the offensive depth that has transformed Frisco into one of the most dangerous teams in Double-A baseball.
Through 45 games, the RoughRiders lead the Texas League in hits, batting average, runs scored, slugging percentage, and OPS. Frisco has also launched 60 home runs while averaging 6.5 runs per contest this season.
Even more impressive has been the consistency.
Over the last 27 games, the RoughRiders are 16-11 while averaging nearly seven runs per game. The lineup has consistently delivered early offense as well, producing 44 first-inning runs this season, tied for fifth-most in Minor League Baseball.
One of the biggest reasons for Frisco’s offensive surge has been the immediate impact of Arturo Disla.
Nicknamed “The Buffalo,” the slugging infielder has become an instant fan favorite since arriving from High-A Hub City earlier this month. Through his first 11 Double-A games, Disla is hitting .395 with three home runs, 14 RBIs, and a remarkable 1.198 OPS.
Disla has recorded hits in 10 of those 11 games and continues to provide major production in the middle of the order.
Dreiling has also continued to emerge as one of the Rangers organization’s top prospects.
The outfielder enters Wednesday riding an eight-game hitting streak while maintaining a 16-game on-base streak overall. During that stretch, Dreiling is batting .317 with four home runs, 12 RBIs, and 14 walks. His discipline at the plate and ability to consistently drive the ball to all fields have made him one of the league’s most complete hitters.
Joyce has provided another massive boost since signing with Frisco in April.
The infielder has blasted eight home runs in just 27 games while posting an OPS above 1.000. His ability to provide power and situational hitting has quickly turned him into one of the most productive bats in the lineup.
Wednesday’s doubleheader will also feature an important opportunity for Santos.
The right-hander has battled inconsistency this season but remains one of the organization’s most intriguing young arms due to his strikeout ability and raw stuff. Santos showed flashes during his recent outing in Midland, recording six strikeouts despite allowing three earned runs in four innings.
Pence, meanwhile, continues adjusting to Double-A competition after making his debut earlier this month. The left-hander has shown strong composure and command early in his tenure with the RoughRiders and will look to build on another solid outing against Arkansas in game two.
Arkansas enters the doubleheader at 28-18 and remains one of the stronger clubs in the Texas League despite Tuesday’s collapse. The Travelers built their early lead behind aggressive offense and timely hitting before Frisco’s bullpen settled the game down late.
For the RoughRiders, Wednesday represents another opportunity to continue building momentum during what has become one of the organization’s strongest offensive stretches in recent years.
After overcoming a six-run deficit Tuesday night, confidence inside the Frisco clubhouse continues to rise.
And with the lineup consistently producing runs from top to bottom, the RoughRiders appear capable of competing with anyone in the Texas League right now.
