MiLB Preview: Frisco RoughRiders Chase Series Victory Behind Red-Hot Offense in Midland Finale

STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas | May 17, 2026  — The Frisco RoughRiders enter Sunday afternoon with momentum, confidence and a chance to secure their biggest series win of the young season.

After dramatic back-to-back victories over the Midland RockHounds, Frisco will look to claim the six-game set in the series finale at Momentum Bank Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. as the RoughRiders send left-hander Dylan MacLean to the mound against Midland right-hander Henry Baez.

Frisco enters Sunday at 19-18 after an impressive stretch that has seen the club win three of the first five games in Midland, including Saturday’s thrilling 7-5 comeback victory powered by a three-run ninth inning.

Frisco RoughRiders: The Rising Stars of Double-A Baseball

That late rally further showcased what has become one of the most explosive offenses anywhere in Double-A baseball.

The RoughRiders have now scored a Texas League-best 129 runs over their last 19 games while posting an 11-8 record during that stretch. Frisco continues to lead the league in batting average, hits, runs scored, slugging percentage and OPS entering Sunday’s finale.

Few lineups in Minor League Baseball are swinging the bat with more confidence right now.

And much of that recent offensive explosion has centered around one player.

Nicknamed “The Buffalo,” designated hitter Arturo Disla has completely transformed the middle of the RoughRiders lineup since arriving from High-A Hub City earlier this week.

Through his first four Double-A games, Disla is slashing a remarkable .471/.550/.824 with a home run, a triple and nine RBIs.

Saturday night delivered another breakout moment for the powerful slugger.

With Frisco trailing entering the ninth inning, Disla ripped the first triple of his professional career into right field, driving home two runs and flipping the game in the RoughRiders’ favor.

His immediate success has added another dangerous power bat to an already loaded lineup.

Before his promotion, Disla was already putting together a dominant season with High-A Hub City, batting .314 with six home runs and a .993 OPS through 30 games.

Now, he appears to be carrying that momentum seamlessly into Double-A competition.

Disla is hardly the only hitter producing for Frisco.

Infielder Corey Joyce continues one of the most surprising breakout seasons in the Texas League.

Since joining the RoughRiders in mid-April, Joyce has slashed .313/.383/.627 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs in just 23 games.

The former Cubs prospect has become one of the league’s top extra-base-hit threats after showing far less power production during previous seasons in the minors.

Meanwhile, infielder Keyber Rodriguez remains one of the most consistent contact hitters in Double-A baseball.

Rodriguez enters Sunday leading the Texas League in hits with 46 while also ranking near the top of the league in batting average, doubles and extra-base hits.

His seven separate three-hit games this season currently lead all of Double-A baseball.

Outfielder Dylan Dreiling also continues building momentum after recently earning Texas League Player of the Week honors.

Over his last nine games, Dreiling is batting .333 with four home runs, 11 walks and a staggering 1.227 OPS.

The former Tennessee standout has quickly developed into one of the Rangers organization’s most productive young bats.

As a team, the RoughRiders are now producing offense at a historic pace.

Through 37 games, Frisco leads the Texas League with 348 hits and 243 runs scored while posting a .274 team batting average and .822 OPS.

The club’s 51 home runs are also tied for second-most in the league.

For perspective, last season’s Texas League-leading Wichita Wind Surge finished with a .780 team OPS. Frisco currently sits well above that mark.

The offense has also become especially dangerous early in games.

The RoughRiders have scored 36 first-inning runs this season, tied for sixth-most in all of Minor League Baseball, while batting .304 as a team in opening frames.

Sunday’s finale now gives Frisco a chance to complete an impressive road series against one of the top clubs in the division.

MacLean, who enters with a perfect 2-0 record, will look to provide stability on the mound while the offense attempts to stay hot against Baez and the Midland pitching staff.

If the RoughRiders continue producing offensively at their current pace, they will have an excellent opportunity to leave Midland with a statement series victory and even more momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
