STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO | June 10, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will try to keep their momentum rolling Wednesday night when they meet the San Antonio Missions for the second game of a six-game series at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. as Frisco sends left-hander Blake Townsend to the mound. Townsend enters with a 2-2 record and a 4.46 ERA. San Antonio will counter with right-hander Eric Yost, who comes in at 0-1 with a 2.87 ERA.
Frisco RoughRiders Aim for Continued Success
The RoughRiders enter the matchup with a four-game winning streak after opening the series with a 10-4 comeback victory over the Missions on Tuesday night. Frisco fell behind 4-0 after San Antonio scored three runs in the third inning and another in the fourth, with three of those runs coming across on wild pitches. But the Riders answered loudly in the sixth.
Corey Joyce and Orlando Martinez started the rally with RBI singles before Julian Brock added an RBI double. Max Wagner then delivered the biggest swing of the inning, a two-run double that pushed Frisco ahead 5-4. The RoughRiders never looked back.
Frisco continued to build separation late. Marcus Lee Sang added an RBI double in the eighth, while Martinez, Brock and Wagner helped stretch the lead in the ninth. Wagner finished with four RBIs, tying a career high, and the bottom third of the lineup made a major impact. Martinez, Brock and Wagner combined to go 8-for-14 with eight RBIs and four runs scored.
On the mound, Aidan Curry worked through five innings to earn his first career Double-A win, while the bullpen closed the door. Jonathan Brand, Eric Loomis and Bryan Magdaleno combined for four scoreless innings to protect the lead and keep San Antonio from building a response.
That formula has been key during Frisco’s current surge. During the four-game winning streak, the RoughRiders have outscored opponents 33-15 and own the best ERA in the Texas League over that span at 3.94. The bullpen has been especially sharp, posting a 2.30 ERA across 15.2 innings during the streak.
The recent run has also strengthened Frisco’s position in the Texas League South. The RoughRiders sit in first place and continue to create separation as the first half approaches its final stretch.
Frisco has also enjoyed plenty of success in San Antonio in recent years. Since 2021, the RoughRiders are 40-16 at Nelson Wolff Stadium, good for a .714 winning percentage. During that stretch, Frisco has posted a 2.54 team ERA in the ballpark and outscored the Missions 273-156. Last season, the Riders went 12-1 at The Wolff.
Offensively, Frisco continues to produce at one of the strongest clips in the Texas League. Through 56 games, the RoughRiders rank second in the league with 505 hits, second in batting average at .269 and second in runs with 356, averaging 6.4 per game. The club has scored seven or more runs in 25 of its 56 games and is 19-1 when scoring at least eight.
The lineup has been especially dangerous over the last 38 games. During that stretch, Frisco is 23-15 while scoring 249 runs, averaging 6.6 per contest. The RoughRiders have slashed .265/.372/.439 with 48 home runs in that span.
Rafe Perich remains one of the biggest bats to watch. Since joining Frisco, he has homered four times in his first nine games and has quickly developed a reputation for late-game power. Between High-A Hub City and Frisco, Perich was named the Rangers’ May Minor League Player of the Month after hitting .327 with a .427 on-base percentage, .714 slugging percentage, 11 home runs and 32 RBIs. His 15 total homers lead the Rangers organization.
Dylan Dreiling continues to be another major offensive storyline. The Rangers’ No. 10 prospect enters Wednesday on a 27-game on-base streak, the longest active streak in the Texas League and tied for the ninth-longest in RoughRiders franchise history. During the streak, Dreiling is hitting .324 with a .432 on-base percentage, six home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 walks.
Arturo Disla, nicknamed “The Buffalo,” has also given Frisco a boost since his promotion. He is hitting .296 with an .869 OPS for the RoughRiders and has been dominant against left-handed pitching across both levels this season.
For Frisco, Wednesday’s game is about extending a streak and continuing to stack wins in a division race that is tightening by the day. With Townsend on the mound, a hot lineup behind him and a bullpen trending in the right direction, the RoughRiders have a chance to take early control of the series in San Antonio.
