STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO | June 11, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders will try to extend one of their strongest stretches of the season Thursday night when they meet the San Antonio Missions for the third game of a six-game series at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. as Frisco sends right-hander Winston Santos to the mound. Santos enters with an 0-3 record and a 7.83 ERA. San Antonio, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will counter with right-hander Miguel Mendez, who comes in at 2-1 with a 3.90 ERA.
Frisco enters the matchup with a five-game winning streak and plenty of momentum after back-to-back road wins to open the series. The RoughRiders have outscored opponents 38-15 during the streak and own the best team ERA in the Texas League over that span at 3.07. The bullpen has been even better, posting a 1.93 ERA across 18.2 innings during the run.
Frisco RoughRiders: A Team on the Rise
The latest win came Wednesday night, when the RoughRiders shut out San Antonio 5-0 behind a brilliant start from left-hander Blake Townsend. Frisco struck first in the opening inning when Orlando Martinez delivered an RBI double off Missions starter Eric Yost. The Riders added more in the third, with Rafe Perich driving in a run on a double before Keith Jones II pushed the lead to 3-0 with an RBI single.
Townsend took care of the rest. After allowing back-to-back singles to begin the first inning, he retired the next 16 batters he faced. He finished with six shutout innings, six strikeouts, no walks and only three hits allowed. Ryan Lobus, Josh Trentadue and Austin Roberts followed with scoreless innings out of the bullpen to finish the shutout.
The win moved Frisco to 32-25 and continued the club’s recent dominance at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Since 2021, the RoughRiders are 41-16 in San Antonio, good for a .719 winning percentage. During that stretch, Frisco has posted a 2.49 team ERA at The Wolff and outscored the Missions 278-156. Last season, the Riders went 12-1 in San Antonio.
Frisco’s lineup continues to be one of the most productive in the Texas League. Through 57 games, the RoughRiders rank second in the league with 513 hits, second in batting average at .268 and second in runs with 361. The club is averaging 6.4 runs per game and has scored seven or more runs in 25 games this season.
The Riders have been especially dangerous over the last 39 games, going 24-15 while scoring 254 runs. During that stretch, Frisco has averaged 6.6 runs per game while slashing .265/.372/.437 with 48 home runs.
One of the biggest bats to watch remains Rafe Perich. The infielder has made an immediate impact since joining Frisco, homering four times in his first 11 games with the RoughRiders. Between High-A Hub City and Frisco, Perich was named the Texas Rangers’ May Minor League Player of the Month after hitting .327 with a .427 on-base percentage, .714 slugging percentage, 11 home runs and 32 RBIs. His 15 total home runs lead the Rangers organization and are tied for 10th among non-Triple-A players.
Dylan Dreiling also remains one of Frisco’s hottest hitters. The Rangers’ No. 10 prospect enters Thursday with a 28-game on-base streak, the longest active streak in the Texas League. It is also tied for the eighth-longest streak in RoughRiders franchise history. During the run, Dreiling is hitting .321 with a .431 on-base percentage, six home runs, 23 RBIs and 22 walks. Over his last eight games, he is batting .379 with a 1.072 OPS.
Arturo Disla, nicknamed “The Buffalo,” has added another productive bat to the order. Since joining Frisco, he is hitting .296 with an .869 OPS. Across both Hub City and Frisco this season, Disla has crushed left-handed pitching, batting .400 with a 1.220 OPS against southpaws.
The RoughRiders have also done damage late in games. They lead Double-A with 125 runs in the seventh inning or later and rank second in late-inning ERA at 3.35. That combination has helped them survive close games, protect leads and finish opponents when the lineup gets rolling.
For Santos, Thursday represents a chance to build off the momentum created by the pitching staff. Frisco has received strong work from both starters and relievers during the winning streak, and another steady outing would give the Riders a real chance to take firm control of the series.
With the offense clicking, the bullpen locked in and the club pushing for first-half positioning, Frisco enters game three with confidence. The RoughRiders have been comfortable in San Antonio for years, and right now, they look like a team finding its stride at the perfect time.
