MiLB Preview: Frisco RoughRiders Look to Rebound Against Missions After Winning Streak Ends

STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO, Texas | June 13, 2026 The Frisco RoughRiders return to Nelson Wolff Stadium on Saturday night looking to restart their momentum after seeing their season-best six-game winning streak snapped.

Frisco RoughRiders Aim to Reclaim Their Winning Form

Frisco meets the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, at 7:05 p.m. in the fifth game of a six-game series. Right-hander Ben Anderson is scheduled to start for the RoughRiders, entering at 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA. San Antonio will counter with right-hander Ian Koenig, who comes in at 3-5 with a 4.04 ERA.

The RoughRiders enter the matchup at 33-26 and still in control of the Texas League South first-half race. Friday’s 3-0 loss to San Antonio ended Frisco’s six-game winning streak, but the club maintained a 2.5-game lead over Midland after the RockHounds also lost. Frisco is also 4.5 games ahead of Amarillo with nine games remaining in the first half, and its magic number to clinch is down to seven.

Friday’s loss was a rare quiet night for one of the Texas League’s most productive offenses. Frisco managed only two hits, with Marcus Lee Sang collecting an infield single in the third inning and Arturo Disla adding a single in the ninth. The RoughRiders were held without a home run for the fourth straight game, their longest power drought of the season.

Still, Frisco’s pitching staff gave the club a chance. Dalton Pence delivered five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out four. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the eighth, when San Antonio strung together three consecutive singles against Bryan Magdaleno. Braedon Karpathios drove in the first run with an RBI single before two RBI groundouts pushed the Missions ahead 3-0.

That inning marked the first damage against the Frisco bullpen in the series. Even with Friday’s eighth inning, the RoughRiders’ relief group continues to be one of the biggest reasons the club remains in position to win the division. Frisco’s bullpen ranks second in the Texas League with a 3.88 ERA, which is also fourth-best across Double-A. Over the last 15 games, the RoughRiders have posted the best bullpen ERA in the Texas League at 2.97.

This week in San Antonio, the bullpen has logged 14 innings and allowed only three runs, good for a 1.93 ERA. That has been the best mark in Double-A during the series.

Frisco will hope Saturday’s start from Anderson can keep that run-prevention trend going. The right-hander steps into an important spot with the RoughRiders looking to avoid back-to-back losses and regain the rhythm that powered their winning streak.

Offensively, Frisco still has plenty of reasons for confidence. Through 59 games, the RoughRiders rank second in the Texas League with 523 hits, second in batting average at .265 and second in runs with 367. They are averaging 6.3 runs per game and have scored seven or more runs in 25 of their 59 contests.

The key is getting started early. Frisco has scored 53 first-inning runs this season, fifth-most in the minors. The RoughRiders are hitting .295 in the opening frame with 12 home runs. Dylan Dreiling has been one of the catalysts, tied for the league lead with 15 first-inning hits while also launching three first-inning homers.

Dreiling’s 28-game on-base streak ended Thursday, but the No. 10 prospect remains one of Frisco’s most consistent bats. He is hitting .292, good for seventh in the Texas League, and has produced an .850 OPS over his last 10 games.

Rafe Perich also remains a key name to watch. The infielder has homered four times in his first 13 games with the RoughRiders and leads the Texas Rangers organization with 15 total home runs this season. Between High-A Hub City and Frisco, Perich earned Rangers Minor League Player of the Month honors for May after hitting .327 with a 1.141 OPS, 11 home runs and 32 RBIs.

Frisco has historically played well at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Since 2021, the RoughRiders are 42-17 in San Antonio and have outscored the Missions 284-162 over that stretch. Last season, Frisco went 12-1 at The Wolff.

Saturday gives the RoughRiders another chance to lean on that history, protect their division lead and move one step closer to a first-half title.
