MiLB Preview: Frisco RoughRiders Look to Rebound Against Travelers After Post-Clinching Shutout

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | June 20, 2026 The Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field on Saturday night looking to regain their offensive rhythm after being shut out in their first game since clinching a postseason berth.

Frisco will meet the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, at 7:05 p.m. in the sixth game of a seven-game series. Right-hander Ben Anderson is scheduled to start for the RoughRiders, entering with a 0-0 record and 3.65 ERA. Arkansas will counter with right-hander Ryan Sloan, who comes in at 1-2 with a 4.44 ERA.

The RoughRiders enter the matchup at 37-29, while Arkansas sits at 41-26. Frisco still leads the series, but Friday night served as a reminder that momentum can shift quickly even after a major celebration.

The Frisco RoughRiders Aim to Bounce Back

The RoughRiders were blanked 4-0 by Arkansas on Friday in their first game after clinching the Texas League South Division First Half title. Frisco starter Dalton Pence opened with a scoreless first inning and struck out two, but control issues caught up to him in the second. Three straight walks helped Arkansas push across the game’s first run, and the Travelers added another run in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead.

Pence still gave Frisco length, continuing an encouraging trend in his young Double-A career, but the RoughRiders could not solve Arkansas starter Kade Anderson. The Travelers left-hander delivered six scoreless innings, allowed only two hits and struck out eight while extending his scoreless innings streak to 27.2 innings.

The only Frisco hits came from Arturo Disla and Julian Brock, and Arkansas added late insurance to finish off the shutout.

Despite the loss, the larger picture remains strong for Frisco. The RoughRiders are officially postseason bound after clinching the Texas League South First Half Championship with Thursday’s win. It marks the franchise’s 11th playoff appearance, its first berth since 2024, and its ninth first-half title. Frisco has won two Texas League championships, claiming titles in 2004 and 2022.

Now, the task becomes shifting from celebration mode back into the steady routine that helped the club earn its playoff spot.

Frisco’s offense has shown it can win in different ways. Even with Friday’s quiet night included, the Riders have scored 26 runs over their last three games while hitting just one home run. That lone homer came from Frainyer Chavez, who led off the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader with a solo shot. Since then, Frisco has scored 25 runs without a long ball, relying on contact, pressure and timely production.

Chavez remains one of the key bats to watch. Over his last 26 games, he is hitting .347 with a .453 on-base percentage, .561 slugging percentage and 1.014 OPS. He has added 12 doubles, three home runs, 14 RBIs, 18 walks and 23 runs during that stretch. His recent leadoff homer was his third of the season, and he has already tied his career high with eight home runs despite playing 47 fewer games than last year.

Chavez ranks among the Texas League leaders in several categories, including hits, doubles, walks, extra-base hits and runs scored. Disla has also been productive against Arkansas, hitting .378 with 14 hits and two home runs in 10 games against the Travelers.

Frisco is now 6-4 against Arkansas this season, outscoring the Travelers 58-45 while holding them to a .191 batting average. That success has been built on both offense and pitching.

The RoughRiders’ bullpen continues to be one of the strongest groups in Double-A. Frisco’s relief corps ranks third in Double-A with a 3.83 ERA and first in the Texas League. Over the last 22 games, the bullpen owns a league-best 3.12 ERA.

The offense also remains one of the Texas League’s most productive. Through 66 games, Frisco ranks second in the league in hits, batting average and runs. The Riders are also first in doubles, third in slugging percentage and second in OPS.

Saturday gives Frisco a chance to respond quickly. The playoff spot is secured, but the standard remains the same: win the series, build momentum and keep sharpening for September.
