STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | May 9, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field Saturday night searching for a bounce-back performance as they continue their six-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. as Frisco sends left-hander Dylan MacLean to the mound opposite Northwest Arkansas right-hander Henry Williams in a pivotal fifth game of the series.
With the series currently tied 2-2, Saturday’s matchup carries increasing importance for both clubs as they battle for momentum entering the final stretch of the week.
Frisco RoughRiders: A Force to Be Reckoned With
Frisco enters the contest after a frustrating 6-5 loss Friday night in which a furious late comeback attempt fell just short.
The RoughRiders trailed 6-1 entering the late innings before mounting another rally behind one of the Texas League’s most dangerous offenses. Marcus Lee Sang launched a dramatic three-run home run in the ninth inning to pull Frisco within one run, but the Naturals managed to escape with the victory and even the series.
Even in defeat, the game once again reinforced the offensive depth that has fueled the RoughRiders throughout the first month of the season.
Frisco continues leading the Texas League in hits, runs scored and batting average while ranking near the top of the league in home runs, slugging percentage and OPS.
Through 31 games, the RoughRiders have already produced 201 runs and 289 hits while averaging more than six runs per contest.
The lineup has become relentless from top to bottom.
Corey Joyce continues emerging as one of the biggest offensive surprises in the Texas League since joining Frisco in mid-April. The infielder enters Saturday hitting .338 with six home runs, four doubles and a 1.096 OPS through just 18 games with the RoughRiders.
Joyce’s power production has been especially remarkable considering he hit only two home runs in 92 games last season while playing for Double-A Knoxville in the Chicago Cubs organization.
Now, he has quickly become one of the central power threats in the RoughRiders lineup while averaging one home run every 12 plate appearances.
Keyber Rodriguez has also continued his breakout campaign.
The infielder enters Saturday leading the Texas League with 41 hits while batting .328 overall this season. Over his last 10 games, Rodriguez is hitting .391 and consistently creating offensive pressure near the top of the lineup.
His six three-hit games currently lead all of Double-A baseball.
Meanwhile, John Taylor has quietly developed into one of the league’s best on-base hitters.
Taylor is batting .326 this season while ranking second in the Texas League in on-base percentage at .454. Over his last 12 games, he is hitting .381 with 10 walks and a 1.019 OPS.
The infielder’s patient approach and timely hitting have helped stabilize the lineup during several recent comeback victories and late-game rallies.
Marcus Lee Sang has arguably been the hottest hitter on the roster over the last three weeks.
The outfielder enters Saturday slashing .368/.456/.691 over his last 19 games while totaling six home runs and 21 RBIs during that stretch. Lee Sang’s ninth-inning blast Friday night tied him with Joyce for the team lead in home runs and continued a remarkable offensive run for the former Phillies farmhand.
The RoughRiders have also become one of the most dangerous first-inning teams anywhere in Minor League Baseball.
Frisco’s 34 first-inning runs rank second in the minors and lead all non-Triple-A teams. The RoughRiders are batting .328 collectively in the opening frame while consistently putting immediate pressure on opposing pitching staffs.
Now, Frisco hopes MacLean can provide stability on the mound.
The left-hander enters Saturday with a 2-0 record despite carrying a 5.96 ERA. MacLean has shown flashes of swing-and-miss ability throughout the season and will look to limit hard contact early after Northwest Arkansas capitalized on several mistake pitches Friday night.
The Naturals counter with Williams, who enters at 2-1 with a 4.60 ERA.
Northwest Arkansas has shown plenty of power throughout the series, including multi-home run performances from Connor Scott and Carson Roccaforte during Friday’s victory.
For Frisco, Saturday night represents another opportunity to lean on one of the best offenses in Double-A baseball while reclaiming control of the series before Sunday’s finale.
And if recent trends continue, fans at Riders Field should once again expect plenty of offense under the Saturday night lights.
