MiLB Preview: Frisco RoughRiders Open Home Series Against Tulsa Riding Offensive Surge

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | July 17, 2026 — Fresh off an explosive road trip, the Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field looking to carry their offensive momentum into a three-game weekend series against the Tulsa Drillers beginning Friday night.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT, with right-hander Aidan Curry (2-1, 6.08 ERA) taking the mound for Frisco against Tulsa right-hander Payton Martin (4-3, 5.40 ERA) in the opener.

The RoughRiders (49-37 overall, 10-8 second half) enter the series after winning four of six games against the Corpus Christi Hooks, punctuating the road trip with an emphatic 11-3 victory in Sunday’s finale.

Power Display Sparks Series Win

Frisco RoughRiders: A Force in Double-A Baseball

Frisco showcased its most complete offensive performance of the season in Corpus Christi, launching a season-high six home runs while collecting 11 runs to secure the series victory.

After Corpus Christi scored in the opening inning for the fifth time in six games, the RoughRiders wasted little time responding.

Arturo Disla put Frisco ahead with a two-run homer in the second inning before Rafe Perich extended the lead with a two-run blast in the third. Corey Joyce later added an RBI single before Perich and Dylan Dreiling hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning.

Joyce continued the power surge with a solo shot in the sixth, while Dreiling delivered a two-run triple before Keith Jones II capped the scoring with his 10th homer of the season in the eighth.

Reliever Janser Lara earned the victory after striking out four over two innings out of the bullpen.

The offensive explosion highlighted a lineup that has become one of the most dangerous in Double-A baseball.

Curry Looking to Build on Historic Outing

Friday’s opener features one of the hottest strikeout pitchers in the Texas League.

Curry enters the matchup after tying a career high with 12 strikeouts over six innings against Corpus Christi earlier this week. The performance marked the highest strikeout total by any Texas League starter this season.

Over his last two starts, Curry has recorded an eye-catching 23 strikeouts across 11.2 innings.

His 12-strikeout outing was the most by a Frisco starter since Victor Payano fanned 13 San Antonio hitters in 2016. The franchise record remains 14 strikeouts, set by Robbie Erlin in 2011.

Frisco’s pitching staff has also piled up strikeouts at a remarkable pace, recording 140 over its last 12 games—the third-highest total in Minor League Baseball during that stretch.

Perich Continues Breakout Season

Few hitters in the Rangers organization have been as productive as Perich.

The reigning Texas League Player of the Week enters Friday batting .419 in July with four home runs and five three-hit performances in just 11 games.

Sunday’s two-homer performance was his first multi-home run game at the Double-A level and pushed his organizational-leading total to 21 home runs between High-A Hub City and Frisco.

Perich has quickly developed a reputation for delivering in key moments. Six of his 10 home runs with the RoughRiders have either tied the game or given Frisco the lead, and the club is a perfect 9-0 when he leaves the yard.

Since May 31, the infielder has ranked among the Texas League leaders in nearly every major offensive category, including first in slugging percentage (.697), doubles (15), extra-base hits (26), total bases (92) and runs scored (38).

Historic Offensive Production

Frisco’s lineup continues to rewrite the franchise record book.

The RoughRiders have blasted 119 home runs through 86 games, the highest total in club history. During the past 18 contests alone, Frisco has launched 36 home runs, the most in the Texas League and the third-most in all of Minor League Baseball.

The offense has also been remarkably consistent.

The RoughRiders lead Double-A with 783 hits and pace the Texas League with a .268 team batting average. They also rank first in doubles (159) and slugging percentage (.454), while sitting second in runs scored with 532.

When Frisco’s offense reaches another level, victories usually follow. The RoughRiders are 27-2 this season when scoring eight or more runs.

Late innings have become another strength. Frisco leads all Double-A clubs with 187 runs scored from the seventh inning on, including 15 eighth-inning runs during last week’s series in Corpus Christi.

Already assured of a postseason berth after capturing the Texas League South Division first-half title, the RoughRiders now turn their attention toward maintaining momentum entering the stretch run.

With one of the league’s most productive offenses, an emerging ace in Curry taking the ball Friday, and a lineup fueled by Perich’s breakout campaign, Frisco opens its series against the Dodgers’ Double-A affiliate looking to continue one of the hottest stretches of its 2026 season.
