STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | July 16, 2026 — The Dallas Wings return to College Park Center on Thursday night carrying their strongest momentum of the season and an opportunity to complete a rare regular-season sweep of the New York Liberty.
The Dallas Wings: Key Players to Watch
Dallas enters the nationally televised matchup with a 16-8 record after winning five consecutive games. The Wings will host New York at 8 p.m. CT, with Prime carrying the broadcast. Michael Grady will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst Cynthia Cooper and sideline reporter Kayla Gray.
The Wings’ recent surge has featured balanced scoring, timely defensive stops and an ability to respond when games tighten late. Dallas demonstrated each of those qualities Sunday afternoon during a 96-91 victory over the Chicago Sky at American Airlines Center.
After falling behind by as many as 10 points in the second half, the Wings changed the game with a dominant fourth-quarter performance. Dallas outscored Chicago 30-18 over the final 10 minutes, turning a difficult afternoon into another statement victory.
Five Wings players scored in double figures, marking the ninth time this season Dallas has reached that level of offensive balance. Paige Bueckers led the way with one of her most complete performances of the year, finishing with a game-high 22 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and one block.
The performance gave Bueckers the fourth double-double of her career and continued her impressive run as Dallas’ primary late-game creator. Her ability to score, facilitate and control the pace has been central to the Wings’ five-game winning streak.
Thursday’s meeting will be the third between Dallas and New York this season. The Wings lead the series 2-0 and can secure their first regular-season sweep of the Liberty since 2020 with another victory.
Dallas has already shown it can win against New York in different ways. The Wings earned their most recent victory in Brooklyn on July 7, defeating the Liberty 88-77 behind a historic performance from Jessica Shepard.
Shepard recorded her third triple-double of the season, matching her career high with 22 points while adding 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Her production helped Dallas control the interior, move the ball efficiently and limit New York’s opportunities to generate sustained momentum.
The Liberty will arrive in Arlington looking to reverse a difficult recent result. New York fell 93-91 to the Toronto Tempo on Sunday despite receiving 50 combined points from Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart.
Ionescu scored 28 points, while Stewart added 22 in the narrow road loss. Their production remains a major concern for any opponent, as both players can create offense from multiple areas of the floor and quickly change the direction of a game.
Dallas will need to remain disciplined defensively, particularly against New York’s perimeter shooting and half-court movement. Limiting second-chance opportunities and preventing the Liberty from settling into an early rhythm will be critical.
The Wings’ depth could again become a deciding factor. Dallas has received meaningful contributions from throughout the rotation during its winning streak, allowing the team to maintain offensive pressure even when its leading scorers are resting or facing additional defensive attention.
Thursday’s matchup also presents another test of the Wings’ composure. Dallas has repeatedly shown the ability to recover from deficits, execute in the fourth quarter and close competitive games. Against an experienced Liberty roster, that poise may prove essential.
With a five-game winning streak, a perfect record against New York this season and a home crowd behind them, the Wings enter Thursday with an opportunity to strengthen their position in the standings and continue one of the franchise’s most encouraging stretches in recent years.
New York, meanwhile, will be motivated to avoid the sweep and earn a valuable road victory. The result could come down to which team controls the tempo and delivers the sharper performance in the closing minutes.
