STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas |May 12, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders begin a new six-game road series Tuesday morning when they travel west to face the Midland RockHounds at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. as Frisco sends left-hander Josh Trentadue to the mound against Midland right-hander Henry Baez in the series opener.
Understanding the Frisco RoughRiders’ Offensive Strategy
The RoughRiders enter the matchup looking to regroup after a frustrating conclusion to last week’s series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, where multiple close losses prevented Frisco from fully capitalizing on one of the hottest offensive stretches in Double-A baseball.
Saturday’s 8-7 extra-inning defeat served as another example of both the offensive firepower and late-game heartbreak that defined much of the Northwest Arkansas series.
For the second consecutive night, Frisco dropped a one-run game despite mounting another late comeback attempt.
Still, the series reinforced one major reality surrounding the 2026 RoughRiders: this lineup can score against anybody.
Over their last 14 games, the RoughRiders have produced 101 runs while slashing .268/.372/.450 with 22 home runs. Frisco continues leading the Texas League in hits, batting average, runs scored and OPS entering Tuesday’s road opener.
The offense has become relentless from top to bottom.
Much of the recent attention has centered around outfielder Dylan Dreiling, who was officially named Texas League Player of the Week on Monday after an explosive performance against Northwest Arkansas.
The 23-year-old slugged four home runs during the series and delivered the first multi-homer game of his professional career Saturday night. Dreiling now enters the Midland series tied for the team lead with six home runs while batting .300 overall this season.
His emergence adds yet another dangerous bat to a lineup already producing at one of the highest levels in franchise history.
Infielder Corey Joyce continues to provide unexpected power production since joining Frisco in April. The former Minor League free agent signing is batting .333 with six home runs and a 1.080 OPS in only 19 games with the RoughRiders.
Joyce’s rapid offensive rise has become one of the organization’s biggest early-season surprises after he hit only two home runs last season at Double-A Knoxville in the Chicago Cubs system.
Meanwhile, Keyber Rodriguez continues proving himself as one of the most productive hitters in the entire Texas League.
Rodriguez leads the league with 42 hits while batting .326 on the season. He also ranks among league leaders in doubles, extra-base hits and total bases. Over his last 11 games, Rodriguez is hitting .380 while consistently setting the tone near the top of Frisco’s lineup.
John Taylor has quietly become one of the club’s most reliable on-base threats as well.
Taylor enters Tuesday batting .313 while ranking third in the Texas League in on-base percentage at .444. His disciplined approach has helped stabilize the offense during several recent comeback attempts and high-scoring victories.
Another major contributor has been Marcus Lee Sang.
The outfielder has slashed .356/.440/.658 over his last 20 games while totaling six home runs and 21 RBIs during that span. His recent offensive surge has further deepened an already dangerous RoughRiders lineup.
Collectively, Frisco’s 47 home runs through 32 games represent the highest total in franchise history at this point of a season since records began in 2005.
Now, the focus shifts toward improving consistency on the mound.
Trentadue enters Tuesday with a 1-1 record and 7.08 ERA but showed major improvement during his last outing against Northwest Arkansas. The left-hander delivered five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out six batters in one of his strongest performances of the year.
Frisco hopes that outing signals a turning point as the club attempts to stabilize its rotation heading into a difficult road series.
Midland presents another challenge offensively.
The RockHounds remain one of the Texas League’s more balanced clubs and have traditionally played well at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Tuesday also marks Midland’s first look at one of the league’s most explosive offenses in Frisco.
For the RoughRiders, the formula entering the series remains simple.
Continue producing offensively, limit the costly innings on the mound and finally begin converting close games into victories.
If the bats continue swinging the way they have over the past two weeks, Frisco will once again have an opportunity to make noise in the Texas League standings.
