STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | June 2, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders return home Tuesday afternoon with momentum, a fresh series victory and a major league spotlight shining on Riders Field.
Why Fans Are Excited About the Frisco RoughRiders This Season
Frisco opens a six-game series against the Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, at 12:05 p.m. CT. Right-hander Aidan Curry is scheduled to start for the RoughRiders, while Springfield will counter with right-hander Chen-Wei Lin, who enters at 1-2 with a 4.58 ERA.
The series opener already had significance as Frisco looks to build off a strong finish in Arkansas, but the matchup received an extra jolt with Texas Rangers stars Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford slated to begin rehab assignments with the RoughRiders on Tuesday. Seager is working his way back from lower back inflammation after landing on the 10-day injured list May 18, while Langford is recovering from a right forearm strain that sent him to the IL on April 22.
Their expected appearances give fans a rare opportunity to watch two key Rangers bats in Frisco while the RoughRiders begin a crucial homestand.
Frisco returns to Riders Field after taking three of five from the Arkansas Travelers in North Little Rock. The RoughRiders closed that series with a 2-1 win Sunday behind timely hitting from Rafe Perich and a strong pitching effort.
Arkansas struck first against Dylan MacLean in the fourth inning, using back-to-back hits to take a 1-0 lead. MacLean limited the damage and finished with just one run allowed over five innings while striking out a season-best seven.
Perich answered in the fifth inning with his first Double-A home run, a solo shot to right field that tied the game. He came through again in the seventh, driving in the go-ahead run with an RBI single against Marcelo Perez. From there, the bullpen handled the rest.
Bryan Magdaleno, Ricardo Velez, Blake Townsend and Wilian Bormie combined for scoreless relief. Bormie recorded the final out to secure his second save of the season.
That pitching performance continued an encouraging stretch for Frisco’s staff. The RoughRiders still rank sixth in the Texas League with a 5.01 ERA, but they pitched better during the Arkansas series, posting a 4.28 ERA. Their best work came in Friday’s doubleheader, when they allowed only four runs over 13 innings. Dalton Pence delivered the club’s fourth quality start of the season in the nightcap, and Frisco improved to 4-0 when receiving a quality start.
Curry will look to add to that progress Tuesday. His early numbers show a 21.00 ERA, but the right-hander gets a chance to reset at home in front of a crowd that should have added energy with Seager and Langford in the lineup.
Offensively, the RoughRiders remain one of the Texas League’s most dangerous clubs.
Through 49 games, Frisco ranks second in the league with 446 hits and first in batting average at .269. The Riders are also second in runs with 305, averaging 6.1 per game. Their power continues to stand out, with 64 home runs, third in the Texas League and the second-most in recorded franchise history through 49 games.
Frisco is the only Double-A club with 10 players who have hit at least four home runs this season.
Arturo Disla continues to be one of the most productive bats since joining the RoughRiders. Nicknamed “The Buffalo,” Disla has hit safely in 12 of his first 15 games with Frisco. He is batting .379 with a .463 on-base percentage, .603 slugging mark, three home runs and 14 RBI. Between High-A Hub City and Frisco, Disla has been especially dangerous against left-handed pitching, batting .472 with a 1.435 OPS.
Dylan Dreiling also remains locked in. The Rangers’ No. 10 prospect carries a 20-game on-base streak into the Springfield series. During that stretch, he is slashing .299/.409/.532 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 15 walks.
Frisco has been especially effective when it scores early. The Riders have 44 first-inning runs this season, tied for sixth-most in the minors. They have scored in the opening inning 20 times and produced multiple first-inning runs in 12 games.
The formula has been clear. When Frisco scores eight or more runs, the RoughRiders are 16-1. When they score seven or fewer, they are 10-22.
Tuesday’s opener brings several storylines together: a homecoming after a series win, a chance for Curry to settle in, continued hot stretches from Disla and Dreiling, and the anticipated rehab appearances of Seager and Langford.
For the RoughRiders, the goal is simple — turn the momentum from Arkansas into a strong start against Springfield. For fans at Riders Field, the afternoon offers a mix of prospect intrigue, major league star power and a Frisco team still swinging one of the hottest bats in the Texas League.
