STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | May 8, 2026 — Momentum has completely shifted back toward the Frisco RoughRiders heading into Friday night’s fourth game of their six-game series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Riders Field.
After storming back from a four-run deficit Thursday night in dramatic fashion, the RoughRiders now look to seize control of the series behind one of the hottest offenses in Double-A baseball.
Frisco RoughRiders: Key Players to Watch
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. as Frisco sends right-hander Leandro Lopez to the mound against Northwest Arkansas left-hander Hunter Patteson.
Thursday’s wild 10-9 extra-inning victory may ultimately become one of the defining wins of Frisco’s early season. The RoughRiders rallied from an 8-4 deficit before walking off the Naturals in the 10th inning on a bases-loaded single from John Taylor.
The comeback showcased the resilience and offensive firepower that has transformed Frisco into one of the most dangerous teams in the Texas League.
Taylor once again played a central role in the victory.
The infielder delivered the first walk-off hit of his RoughRiders career while continuing one of the hottest stretches of his professional career. Over his last 14 games, Taylor is batting .383 with a .525 on-base percentage while consistently setting the tone near the top of the lineup.
Taylor now ranks among the Texas League leaders in batting average, on-base percentage and OPS while reaching base in all but one game this season.
His emergence has been one of several major reasons behind Frisco’s offensive explosion over the last two weeks.
Corey Joyce continues producing at a remarkable pace since joining the RoughRiders organization in April.
The infielder enters Friday batting .361 with six home runs and a staggering 1.164 OPS through his first 17 games with Frisco. Joyce has become one of the league’s most productive power hitters almost overnight after hitting just two home runs in 92 games last season at Double-A Knoxville in the Chicago Cubs organization.
His current home run pace has drawn attention throughout the Texas League, averaging one homer every 12 plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Keyber Rodriguez continues making a strong case as one of the league’s breakout stars in 2026.
Rodriguez leads the Texas League with 41 hits while batting .342 overall this season. Over his last nine games, the infielder is hitting .439 and consistently creating offensive pressure for opposing pitchers.
His six three-hit games this season currently lead all of Double-A baseball.
The offense has become relentless from top to bottom.
Over their last 12 games, the RoughRiders are averaging 7.4 runs per contest while posting a .278 team batting average and launching 19 home runs during that span. Frisco continues leading the Texas League in hits, batting average, runs scored, slugging percentage and OPS.
The club’s 44 home runs through 30 games mark the highest total in franchise history at this point in a season since records began in 2005.
Marcus Lee Sang has also remained a major contributor during the recent offensive surge.
The outfielder is batting .359 over his last 18 games with five home runs and 17 RBIs while consistently delivering hard contact throughout the lineup.
Now, Frisco hopes Lopez can provide stability on the mound after several recent high-scoring contests.
The right-hander enters Friday with an 0-1 record and a 5.82 ERA, but the RoughRiders believe his stuff remains capable of generating swing-and-miss opportunities when he establishes command early in counts.
Limiting free baserunners will be critical against a Naturals lineup that has shown the ability to capitalize quickly throughout the series.
Northwest Arkansas counters with Patteson, who enters at 1-2 with an 8.64 ERA while facing one of the most explosive lineups in the minors.
Frisco’s ability to attack early in games has become one of the team’s biggest strengths.
The RoughRiders lead all non-Triple-A teams in first-inning batting average and have already scored 34 runs in the opening inning this season.
With the series entering a pivotal stretch, Friday night presents another opportunity for the RoughRiders to continue their climb in the Texas League standings while proving their offense can overpower opponents in multiple ways.
And if Thursday night’s comeback served as any indication, this Frisco lineup is never truly out of a game.
