Frisco RoughRiders: Key Players to Watch

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | June 7, 2026  — The Frisco RoughRiders will close their six-game series against the Springfield Cardinals with a Sunday doubleheader at Riders Field, and the stakes are simple: finish the homestand with momentum.

Frisco meets Springfield, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, at 3:30 p.m. CT in the first game of the twin bill. Both games are scheduled for seven innings. The RoughRiders will send left-hander Dylan MacLean to the mound in Game 1 against Springfield left-hander Braden Davis. In Game 2, right-hander Austin Bergner is scheduled to start for Frisco against right-hander Chen-Wei Lin.

MacLean enters the opener at 4-0 with a 4.15 ERA, giving Frisco a reliable arm to begin the afternoon. Davis comes in at 0-3 with a 5.31 ERA. The nightcap features Bergner, who is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA, against Lin, who enters at 1-2 with a 4.62 ERA.

The RoughRiders enter the doubleheader after one of their stranger offensive performances of the season. Frisco beat Springfield 11-4 on Friday night despite recording only four hits. The Riders made every hit count, with all four driving in at least two runs.

The scoring started early. After Springfield took a 1-0 lead, Frisco answered with five runs in the bottom of the first inning against Jurrangelo Cijntje. Rafe Perich sliced a two-run double into left-center field to give the RoughRiders a 2-1 lead. Ian Moller followed with a three-run home run to center field, blasting the ball off the batter’s eye to make it 5-1.

Dalton Pence then gave Frisco a strong start, working five innings and striking out seven. He allowed a solo homer to Jose Cordoba but surrendered just two earned runs while improving to 2-1.

Frisco did not record another hit after Moller’s homer until the sixth inning, when Marcus Lee Sang launched a three-run shot to stretch the lead to 8-2. Dylan Dreiling added a two-run single in the eighth, extending his Texas League-best on-base streak to 24 games and helping finish off the RoughRiders’ first double-digit scoring game since May 15.

The offensive line was rare. Frisco became just the second minor league team since 2005 to score at least 11 runs on four or fewer hits, joining Triple-A Tacoma, which scored 12 runs on four hits on April 4, 2023.

That kind of production reflects how dangerous the RoughRiders can be when they cash in scoring chances. Frisco has been one of the Texas League’s most productive offenses all season, ranking second with 479 hits, second in batting average at .267 and second in runs with 334, averaging 6.3 per game. The Riders are also fifth in the league with 69 home runs, second in slugging percentage at .441 and second in OPS at .805.

Early offense continues to be a major part of the formula. Frisco has scored 50 first-inning runs this season, fourth-most in the minors. The Riders have scored in the opening frame 22 times and have produced multiple first-inning runs in 13 games.

Dreiling remains one of the club’s hottest hitters. The Rangers’ No. 10 prospect is fifth in the Texas League with a .305 average and carries a 24-game on-base streak into the doubleheader. During that stretch, he is hitting .323 with a .434 on-base percentage, .559 slugging percentage, six home runs and 21 RBI. If he reaches safely in one more game, he will tie for the 11th-longest on-base streak in franchise history at 25 games.

Perich has also made an immediate impact since joining Frisco. He has homered twice in his first six games with the RoughRiders, including a walk-off homer Wednesday. His 13 total home runs this season lead the Rangers organization.

Arturo Disla, nicknamed “The Buffalo,” continues to be a steady bat as well. He has hit safely in 14 of his first 19 games with Frisco and has been especially productive against left-handed pitching between High-A Hub City and Double-A, batting .429 with a 1.290 OPS against southpaws.

For Frisco, starting pitching remains a key separator. Since May 13, RoughRiders starters have posted a 4.13 ERA in wins compared to a 7.39 ERA in losses. The team is 4-0 when receiving a quality start and 14-7 when a starter works at least five innings.

That puts attention on MacLean in Game 1 and Bergner in Game 2. If Frisco can get length from its starters and continue its timely hitting, the RoughRiders will have a strong chance to close the series on a high note.

After Friday’s power surge, the Riders now have two chances to finish the homestand with another statement.
