STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas | May 16, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders enter Saturday night with momentum fully back on their side after one of the most dominant offensive performances of the Texas League season.
Fresh off a 15-4 demolition of the Midland RockHounds on Friday night, the RoughRiders will look to grab their first lead of the six-game series when they return to Momentum Bank Ballpark for game five at 7 p.m.
Frisco will hand the ball to right-hander Leandro Lopez, while Midland counters with right-hander Mitch Myers.
After alternating wins through the first four games of the series, Saturday’s matchup suddenly carries major importance for both clubs as they continue battling near the top of the Texas League South standings.
Why the Frisco RoughRiders Are a Team to Watch This Season
For Frisco, however, the biggest storyline remains the overwhelming offensive surge currently powering the lineup.
Friday’s 15-run eruption showcased exactly how dangerous the RoughRiders can become when the bats start rolling together.
The club collected 18 hits, tied a franchise record with eight doubles and produced one of the most complete offensive games in franchise history.
Leading the charge was designated hitter Arturo Disla.
Nicknamed “The Buffalo,” Disla delivered four hits, four RBIs and his first career Double-A home run during a breakout performance that further elevated excitement surrounding the newly promoted slugger.
Through just three Double-A games, Disla has already collected seven hits and seven RBIs while recording a hit and RBI in every appearance.
Friday also marked the third four-hit game of the season for Disla across multiple minor league levels, continuing what has quickly become one of the organization’s most intriguing breakout stories.
The offensive support around him has been just as dangerous.
Outfielder John Taylor turned in a career-best four-RBI performance Friday, combining with Disla to drive in nine of Frisco’s 15 runs. Taylor continues reaching base at an elite rate while providing stability near the top of the lineup.
Meanwhile, infielder Corey Joyce remains one of the hottest hitters in the Texas League.
Since joining the RoughRiders in April, Joyce has completely transformed the middle of Frisco’s lineup. The former Cubs prospect enters Saturday batting .313 with seven home runs, 22 RBIs and a 1.010 OPS in just 23 games with the club.
Joyce’s power production has been especially eye-opening.
After hitting only two home runs in 92 games last season at Double-A Knoxville, he has already launched seven homers for Frisco and ranks among league leaders in slugging percentage and OPS. His first professional grand slam earlier this week against Midland only added to the breakout narrative.
The RoughRiders offense overall has reached historic levels during the opening stretch of the season.
Through 36 games, Frisco leads the Texas League in hits (339), batting average (.274), runs scored (236) and OPS (.819).
The club’s 50 home runs through 36 games are also the most in recorded franchise history at this point of a season since tracking began in 2005.
Few teams in Double-A baseball are currently producing offense at Frisco’s pace.
Over the last 18 games, the RoughRiders have scored 129 runs — best in the Texas League — while averaging more than seven runs per contest.
Outfielder Dylan Dreiling has also continued his recent tear after earning Texas League Player of the Week honors.
Over his last nine games, the former Tennessee standout is hitting .333 with four home runs, 11 walks and a staggering 1.227 OPS.
Infielder Keyber Rodriguez remains equally productive, entering Saturday tied for the league lead in hits while batting .316 overall this season.
For Lopez, Saturday presents an opportunity to stabilize a Frisco rotation still searching for consistency.
The right-hander enters with a 7.11 ERA but will benefit from one of the hottest offenses in all of Minor League Baseball behind him.
Midland, however, remains dangerous offensively as well and has already proven capable of quickly erasing deficits throughout the series.
Still, after Friday’s offensive explosion, the momentum clearly belongs to the RoughRiders.
Now the challenge becomes turning that momentum into a series advantage as Frisco continues building one of the most explosive offenses in the Texas League.
