MiLB Preview: Red-Hot Frisco RoughRiders Return Home Looking to Keep Offensive Surge Rolling Against Missions

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | May 19, 2026  — The Frisco RoughRiders return to Riders Field Tuesday morning carrying momentum, confidence and one of the hottest offenses in all of Double-A baseball.

Fresh off their first six-game series victory of the 2026 season, the RoughRiders will open a new six-game homestand against the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. First pitch for Education Day presented by Collin College is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.

Frisco will send left-hander Josh Trentadue to the mound against San Antonio right-hander Miguel Mendez as the club looks to continue building on its recent success.

The RoughRiders enter the series after taking four of six games from the Midland RockHounds on the road, closing the week with three consecutive victories while averaging more than seven runs per game during the series.

More importantly, Frisco finally looked like the complete team many around the organization expected entering the season.

The lineup has become one of the most explosive groups in the Texas League, consistently producing early offense, extra-base hits and late-inning rallies.

No player has generated more excitement recently than newly promoted slugger Arturo Disla.

Nicknamed “The Buffalo,” Disla has immediately transformed the middle of the Frisco lineup since arriving from High-A Hub City earlier this month. Through his first five Double-A games, the Dominican-born designated hitter is slashing an eye-popping .429/.520/.714 with nine RBIs, a home run and a clutch go-ahead triple that sparked Saturday’s comeback victory in Midland.

The 22-year-old has now recorded at least one hit and one RBI in every Double-A appearance so far, giving the RoughRiders yet another dangerous bat in a lineup already filled with production.

And Disla is hardly alone.

Infielder Corey Joyce continues one of the biggest breakout campaigns in the Texas League.

Since joining Frisco in April, Joyce has blasted seven home runs while posting a .993 OPS in just 24 games.

The former Cubs prospect has provided a major power boost after hitting only two home runs during all of last season at Double-A Knoxville.

Meanwhile, infielder Keyber Rodriguez continues building one of the most consistent offensive seasons in the league.

Rodriguez enters Tuesday leading the Texas League in hits and doubles while batting .317 overall this year.

His seven separate three-hit performances currently lead all of Double-A baseball, highlighting the steady consistency he has brought to the top of the lineup.

Outfielder Dylan Dreiling has also remained scorching hot following his recent Texas League Player of the Week honors.

Over his last 10 games, the Rangers’ No. 10 prospect is batting .333 with four home runs, 13 walks and a 1.204 OPS.

The offensive numbers across the board have become staggering.

Through 38 games, Frisco leads the Texas League in hits, batting average, runs scored, slugging percentage and OPS.

Why Fans Love the Frisco RoughRiders

The RoughRiders have scored 251 runs already this season while hitting 53 home runs and posting an .825 OPS as a team — far above last season’s league-leading offensive pace.

Even more impressive has been the club’s ability to strike early.

Frisco’s 38 first-inning runs rank among the top marks in all of Minor League Baseball, and the RoughRiders are batting over .300 collectively in opening frames this season.

The challenge now becomes maintaining that offensive consistency at home against a San Antonio club known for developing high-level pitching prospects within the Padres organization.

On the mound, Trentadue will look to provide stability for a Frisco rotation that showed improvement during the Midland series.

While his 8.18 ERA reflects some early-season struggles, the RoughRiders pitching staff overall took a major step forward last week, lowering its collective ERA and receiving stronger outings deeper into games.

The bullpen has also quietly stabilized during Frisco’s recent winning stretch.

Relievers like Bryan Magdaleno, Janser Lara and Dustin Saenz have helped close out games efficiently while allowing the offense opportunities to capitalize late.

Now, with momentum fully on their side and the bats continuing to produce at an elite level, the RoughRiders return home looking like one of the hottest teams in the Texas League.

And if Frisco’s offense continues swinging the way it has over the past three weeks, the Missions could be arriving at Riders Field at exactly the wrong time
