MiLB Recap: Arturo Disla Powers Frisco RoughRiders to Offensive Explosion in 15-4 Rout of Midland

STWF Sports | MIDLAND, Texas | May 15, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders unleashed one of their most explosive offensive performances of the season Friday night, hammering the Midland RockHounds 15-4 at Momentum Bank Ballpark behind a monster night from newly promoted slugger Arturo Disla.

Disla, nicknamed “The Buffalo,” delivered four hits, four RBIs and his first career Double-A home run as Frisco evened the six-game road series at two games apiece in dominant fashion.

The offensive outburst tied a season-high in runs for the RoughRiders while showcasing exactly why Frisco continues to possess one of the most dangerous lineups in all of Double-A baseball.

The Dominance of the Frisco RoughRiders

From the opening inning, the RoughRiders attacked aggressively.

Disla wasted little time making his presence felt, ripping an RBI double off Midland starter Corey Avant in the first inning to drive home Dylan Dreiling and give Frisco a quick 1-0 advantage.

Midland briefly answered in the bottom half when Cole Conn doubled home a run against Frisco starter Winston Santos, but the RoughRiders offense quickly regained control.

The turning point came during a massive four-run third inning.

After John Taylor drove in a run with an RBI double, Disla stepped to the plate and delivered the biggest swing of the night.

The powerful designated hitter demolished a hanging curveball deep over the left-field wall for a three-run homer — his first at the Double-A level — igniting the Frisco dugout and extending the lead to 5-1.

The blast highlighted what has already become an impressive start to Disla’s Double-A career.

Through his first three games with the RoughRiders, the Dominican-born slugger has recorded at least one hit and one RBI in every contest while totaling seven hits and seven RBIs overall.

Friday’s four-hit performance also marked the third game this season in which Disla has recorded at least four hits, continuing a breakout campaign that began earlier this year with High-A Hub City.

Frisco’s lineup never slowed down after the third inning.

Taylor continued the offensive barrage in the fourth, launching an opposite-field home run just inside the left-field foul pole to push the RoughRiders lead to 7-2.

It was one of several huge moments in a career-best night for the Frisco outfielder.

Taylor finished with four RBIs, combining with Disla to drive in nine of the club’s 15 runs. He also continued his recent surge as one of the hottest hitters in the lineup, consistently reaching base and providing production near the top of the order.

Meanwhile, Santos battled through four innings on the mound.

Although the right-hander allowed three earned runs, he also flashed swing-and-miss stuff throughout the outing, striking out six Midland hitters before exiting the game.

The Frisco bullpen took over from there and slammed the door shut.

Reliever Jonathan Brand delivered two scoreless innings to stabilize the game, while the pitching staff as a whole combined for a season-high 15 strikeouts.

As impressive as the pitching became late, the offense continued piling on.

In the sixth inning, Marcus Lee Sang and Keith Jones II both singled to spark another rally before Taylor added a sacrifice fly and Disla delivered yet another RBI single.

Moments later, Keyber Rodriguez doubled home Dreiling to stretch the lead into double digits.

The RoughRiders added five more runs across the final two innings, highlighted by three additional doubles and another strong offensive showing from catcher Ian Moller, who collected two doubles during the late-game surge.

By the end of the night, eight of the nine Frisco starters had recorded at least one hit, while the top six hitters in the lineup all posted multi-hit performances.

The RoughRiders also set a season-high with eight doubles as the offense overwhelmed Midland pitching from top to bottom.

The victory improved Frisco to 18-18 on the season and continued a trend that has defined much of the year: when the RoughRiders offense gets rolling, few teams in the Texas League can keep pace.

Frisco now enters Saturday’s matchup with a chance to take its first series lead against Midland.

The RoughRiders are expected to send right-hander Leandro Lopez to the mound against RockHounds starter Mitch Myers in another crucial divisional showdown.

After Friday’s offensive explosion, however, the biggest storyline remains the emergence of Disla — a powerful new bat quickly becoming one of the most dangerous hitters in the Texas League.
