STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO | June 10, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders continued their late first-half push Wednesday night with one of their cleanest all-around wins of the season.
Key Players of the Frisco RoughRiders
Behind six dominant innings from left-hander Blake Townsend and timely production throughout the lineup, Frisco shut out the San Antonio Missions 5-0 at Nelson Wolff Stadium. The win moved the RoughRiders to 32-25 and gave them back-to-back victories to open their six-game road series against the San Diego Padres’ Double-A affiliate.
Townsend set the tone with a composed and efficient start. After allowing back-to-back singles to begin the bottom of the first inning, he completely settled in. The left-hander retired the next 16 batters he faced, keeping San Antonio off balance and giving Frisco’s offense time to build a lead.
Townsend finished with six scoreless innings, six strikeouts, no walks and only three singles allowed. The performance earned him the win and improved his record to 3-2. More importantly for Frisco, it gave the bullpen a manageable finish and helped the RoughRiders secure a second straight road win in San Antonio.
Frisco’s offense wasted little time giving Townsend support. In the top of the first, Orlando Martinez cracked an RBI double off Missions starter Eric Yost to put the RoughRiders ahead 1-0. That early run gave Townsend a cushion before he began carving through the San Antonio lineup.
The Riders added to the lead in the third inning. Rafe Perich continued his strong start with Frisco by driving in a run on an RBI double, pushing the advantage to 2-0. Keith Jones II followed with an RBI single, stretching the lead to 3-0 and giving the RoughRiders control.
From there, the game belonged to Frisco’s pitching staff.
San Antonio had few answers after the first inning. Townsend’s ability to attack the strike zone without issuing a walk kept the Missions from creating pressure. He avoided free passes, worked ahead and forced San Antonio to earn every base. The Missions never found the big swing they needed.
The bullpen followed Townsend’s lead. Ryan Lobus, Josh Trentadue and Austin Roberts each threw a scoreless inning in relief, combining to close out the shutout. Their work preserved Frisco’s first shutout of the series and continued a strong stretch for a bullpen that has helped the Riders protect leads during their recent run.
Frisco added insurance in the eighth inning. Perich scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0, and Corey Joyce followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to five. Those late runs removed any remaining suspense and allowed the RoughRiders to finish the night comfortably.
Perich’s presence in the lineup continues to make an impact. Since joining Frisco, he has consistently found ways to contribute in key spots, whether through power, extra-base hits or run production. His RBI double Wednesday gave the RoughRiders another example of how quickly he has adjusted to Double-A competition.
Dylan Dreiling also kept one of the biggest individual streaks in the Texas League alive. Dreiling went 1-for-4 with a walk and a double, extending his on-base streak to 28 games. It remains the longest active streak in the league and continues to place him among the best recent offensive stretches in RoughRiders franchise history.
The win also carried major standings value. With 11 games remaining in the first half, Frisco holds a 2.5-game lead over Midland for first place in the Texas League South. The RoughRiders are also 4.5 games ahead of third-place Amarillo.
That separation matters as the first-half race enters its final stretch. Frisco has been stacking wins at the right time, and the first two games in San Antonio have shown two different winning formulas. Tuesday’s opener required a comeback and late offensive surge. Wednesday’s victory was built on early scoring, dominant starting pitching and clean bullpen execution.
The RoughRiders will look to keep rolling Thursday night in game three of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Winston Santos is expected to start for Frisco, entering with an 0-3 record and a 7.83 ERA. San Antonio will counter with right-hander Miguel Mendez, who comes in at 2-1 with a 3.90 ERA.
For now, Frisco leaves Wednesday with momentum, a shutout and a growing lead in the division.
