STWF Sports | CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas | April 28, 2026 — Resilience and timely power defined the night for the Frisco RoughRiders, who stormed back late to defeat the Corpus Christi Hooks 10-8 in 10 innings at Whataburger Field.

The victory pushed Frisco to 12-10 on the season and extended its winning streak to four games, matching its longest run of the year. It also marked another comeback effort for a club that has begun to show both offensive depth and late-game composure.

Frisco wasted little time setting the tone against Astros rehabber Tatsuya Imai. In the opening inning, Orlando Martinez delivered an RBI single before John Taylor followed with a run-scoring groundout, giving the RoughRiders an early 2-0 advantage.

The offense continued to apply pressure in the second inning. Marcus Lee Sang and Martinez each doubled in runs, extending the lead to 4-0 and forcing Corpus Christi onto its heels. The aggressive approach at the plate reflected a lineup that has found its rhythm after early-season inconsistency.

Corpus Christi responded in the bottom of the second with three runs, but Frisco answered immediately. Keyber Rodriguez launched a solo home run to chase Imai from the game, and Corey Joyce added another solo shot to restore a three-run cushion at 6-3.

The Hooks gradually clawed their way back. Two runs in the third and another in the fifth tied the game, shifting momentum toward the home side. Corpus Christi then seized its first lead in the sixth inning when Walker Janek delivered a two-run double, putting the Hooks ahead 8-6.

Facing a deficit entering the ninth inning, the RoughRiders once again demonstrated their ability to respond under pressure. Taylor and Keith Jones II each came through with RBI singles, tying the game at 8-8 and forcing extra innings.

In the 10th, Lee Sang provided the decisive moment. With a runner aboard, the outfielder lifted a deep fly ball to left that glanced off the glove of Astros rehabber Zach Dezenzo and carried over the wall for a two-run home run. The dramatic swing gave Frisco a 10-8 lead and capped a night of clutch hitting.

The bullpen was tasked with preserving the advantage, and despite early tension, it delivered. Eric Loomis allowed the first two batters to reach in the bottom of the inning but regained control, striking out Tommy Sacco Jr. before inducing a game-ending double play.

Janser Lara earned the victory after delivering scoreless eighth and ninth innings, stabilizing the game at a critical juncture and setting the stage for Frisco’s late rally.

Offensively, Martinez led the charge with a standout performance, going 4-for-6 with three doubles. His ability to consistently find gaps fueled multiple scoring opportunities and underscored his role as one of the team’s most reliable hitters.

The RoughRiders also excelled in key situations, finishing 7-for-17 with runners in scoring position — a testament to their improved execution in high-leverage moments.

For Frisco, the win highlighted several encouraging trends: the emergence of clutch hitting, the ability to overcome deficits, and a lineup capable of producing throughout the order. After early struggles, the team has begun to show the consistency needed to compete at the top of the Texas League.

The series continues Wednesday morning, with the RoughRiders looking to build on their momentum and extend their winning streak. Left-hander Blake Townsend is scheduled to take the mound against Corpus Christi’s Bryce Mayer.

As the RoughRiders continue their road trip, Tuesday’s performance serves as a reminder of their potential — a team capable of explosive offense, timely execution, and finishing games when it matters most.
