STWF Sports | AMARILLO, Texas | June 28, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders closed their first series of the second half with a tough afternoon at HODGETOWN, falling 18-4 to the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Sunday in the finale of a six-game set.
Frisco entered the day with a chance to secure the series win, but Amarillo’s offense took control early and never let the RoughRiders settle in. The loss moved Frisco to 3-3 in the second half and 42-32 overall, while Amarillo improved to 3-3 and 39-35. The teams split the series at three games apiece.
Highlighting the Frisco RoughRiders’ Season Performance
The Sod Poodles opened the scoring in the second inning against Frisco starter Dylan MacLean. Matt O’Neill delivered the first major swing of the game, launching a three-run home run to give Amarillo a 3-0 lead.
Frisco answered quickly in the top of the third. Dylan Dreiling cut into the deficit with a two-run home run off Amarillo starter Daniel Eagen, trimming the margin to 3-2 and giving the RoughRiders a needed spark.
But that momentum did not last long.
Amarillo continued to pressure MacLean, adding two more home runs against the left-hander and scoring five total runs off him. The Sod Poodles then continued to build against the Frisco bullpen, turning the game into a lopsided finish behind 19 hits.
The biggest individual performance belonged to Demetrio Crisantes, who hit for the cycle for Amarillo. His production highlighted a complete offensive performance by the Sod Poodles, who scored in multiple innings and kept the RoughRiders from mounting a serious comeback.
Frisco’s offense did find a few bright spots despite the difficult final score. Dreiling’s third-inning homer gave the Riders their first runs of the day, while Frainyer Chavez continued his hot stretch with a solo home run in the fifth inning off Billy Corcoran. Marcus Lee Sang added another solo shot in the ninth.
Chavez and Dreiling each hit three home runs during the week in Amarillo and remain tied for the team lead with 11 apiece. Both have been central pieces in a RoughRiders lineup that has produced steady power throughout the season.
Lee Sang was Frisco’s only player with multiple hits on Sunday, finishing 2-for-4 with his ninth-inning home run. His late swing added one more note of offense on a day when Amarillo controlled most of the action.
For Frisco, the finale was a sharp contrast from earlier moments in the series. The RoughRiders had opened the second half with a 20-hit win and later used a five-homer night to grab an extra-inning victory. The club also received several notable rehab appearances during the week, including Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter, left-hander Jordan Montgomery and reliever Chris Martin.
Still, Sunday belonged to Amarillo. The Sod Poodles capitalized on nearly every scoring chance, used the long ball to create separation and finished the series with their most complete offensive game of the week.
The RoughRiders now head home after splitting the six-game road series. Frisco has already secured a postseason berth after winning the Texas League South Division first-half title, but the club will look to quickly reset after the finale.
That opportunity comes Tuesday night, when the RoughRiders return to Riders Field for their first home series of the second half. Frisco will welcome the Midland RockHounds for a new homestand beginning June 30 at 7:05 p.m.
After a high-scoring week in Amarillo, the Riders return home still positioned well, still swinging with power and still looking to build momentum for the second-half stretch.
