STWFsports | FRISCO, Texas | June 5, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders did not need a long list of hits Friday night. They just needed the right ones.
Frisco RoughRiders Show Their Power
Frisco launched two three-run home runs and turned four total hits into an 11-4 win over the Springfield Cardinals at Riders Field, evening the six-game series at two games apiece. The RoughRiders improved to 28-25, while Springfield fell to 25-29.
The win gave Frisco a needed response after another tight stretch in the series and showcased the club’s ability to change a game with one swing. On Friday, those swings came from Ian Moller and Marcus Lee Sang.
Springfield struck first, but Frisco answered immediately in the bottom of the first inning. For the second straight night, the RoughRiders scored in the opening frame, and this time they broke the game open early against Cardinals starter Jurrangelo Cijntje.
Rafe Perich delivered the first big blow, slicing a double into left-center field to drive in two runs and erase a 1-0 deficit. The swing put Frisco in front 2-1 and kept Perich’s strong start with the RoughRiders rolling.
Moller then followed with the loudest swing of the inning, blasting a three-run home run off the batter’s eye in center field. The homer pushed Frisco’s lead to 5-1 and gave the RoughRiders full control before Springfield could settle in.
It was Moller’s fifth home run of the season, an encouraging number after he hit four all of last year with Frisco. His power has become another valuable piece in a lineup that has found different ways to produce throughout the season.
On the mound, Dalton Pence gave the RoughRiders exactly what they needed.
Pence allowed a solo home run to Jose Cordoba but otherwise limited Springfield across five innings. He struck out seven and surrendered just two earned runs, improving to 2-1. The outing continued an impressive beginning to his Double-A career.
Pence has now completed at least five innings in each of his first four Double-A starts. During that span, he has allowed only six earned runs, giving Frisco steady length and a chance to control games from the mound.
After Moller’s first-inning homer, the RoughRiders went quiet offensively for several innings. Frisco did not record another hit until the sixth, but when the Riders finally broke through again, they did it with another major swing.
Lee Sang hammered a three-run homer in the sixth inning, stretching the lead to 8-2 and giving the RoughRiders a comfortable cushion. The blast continued the theme of the night: limited hits, maximum damage.
Frisco added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth to remove any remaining doubt. Dylan Dreiling delivered a two-run single during the inning after earlier extending his Texas League-best on-base streak to 24 games.
Dreiling’s consistency has become one of Frisco’s most important offensive storylines. Even on a night when the RoughRiders finished with only four hits, his ability to reach base and produce late helped keep the lineup moving.
The final line was unusual but effective. Frisco scored 11 runs on just four hits, and every hit drove in at least two runs. It was the RoughRiders’ first double-digit scoring performance since May 15, and it came at an ideal time with the series hanging in the balance.
The victory also reinforced how dangerous Frisco can be when the lineup cashes in scoring chances. The RoughRiders have been one of the Texas League’s strongest offensive clubs, and Friday’s win showed that their power can quickly turn a close game into a comfortable one.
Springfield had controlled portions of the early series by winning close games, but Frisco’s response Friday changed the tone. After three straight tight contests to open the series, the RoughRiders finally created separation.
With the series tied 2-2, Frisco will look to take the advantage Saturday night at Riders Field. Right-hander Austin Bergner, who enters at 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA, is scheduled to start for the RoughRiders against Springfield left-hander Braden Davis, who comes in at 0-3 with a 5.31 ERA.
First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
Saturday will also be Charros Night, presented by Baylor Scott & White Health and Cacique, as Frisco joins Minor League Baseball’s Copa de la Diversión celebration honoring Mexican cowboy and rodeo culture. The night will also include Scout Night, and kids can run the bases after the game presented by Raising Cane’s.
After Friday’s power show, the RoughRiders will try to keep the bats loud and move one step closer to another series win.
