STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | April 26, 2026 — A dominant performance on the mound and a late offensive surge powered the Frisco RoughRiders to an 8-0 victory over the Tulsa Drillers on Sunday afternoon at Riders Field, securing a series split after a challenging start to the week.

Frisco (11-10) closed the six-game set with three consecutive wins, completing a turnaround that showcased both resilience and depth. After dropping the first three contests, the RoughRiders responded emphatically, outplaying Tulsa (14-7) in all phases down the stretch.

The tone was set early. Frisco needed just two batters to take the lead in the first inning, as Frainyer Chavez ignited the offense with a single before swiping two bases. Moments later, Dylan Dreiling drove him home with an RBI single, giving the RoughRiders a 1-0 advantage before many fans had settled into their seats.

That early run proved more than enough support for starting pitcher David Davalillo, who delivered one of the most impressive outings of the season. The right-hander matched a career high with 10 strikeouts over six shutout innings, allowing just three hits while consistently keeping Tulsa hitters off balance.

Frisco Roughriders: A Team on the Rise

Davalillo’s command was particularly evident in high-pressure moments. After retiring the first 12 batters he faced, he encountered his first test in the fifth inning but escaped unscathed. In the sixth, with runners on second and third, Davalillo elevated his performance further, striking out the side to preserve the shutout and cap his outing in emphatic fashion.

While the pitching staff controlled the game, the offense provided timely support — and eventually, separation.

After maintaining a narrow 1-0 lead through six innings, the RoughRiders broke the game open in the seventh. Frisco plated three runs in the frame, capitalizing on a combination of disciplined at-bats and clutch hitting. The momentum continued into the eighth inning, where the RoughRiders added four more runs to extend the lead to 8-0.

Keyber Rodriguez and Marcus Lee Sang each delivered run-scoring hits during the late surge, while Chavez continued his standout performance with another RBI contribution. The offensive outburst underscored the depth of a lineup that had struggled earlier in the series but found its rhythm when it mattered most.

Rodriguez and Dreiling led the way at the plate, each recording three-hit performances. Rodriguez came within a home run of the cycle, highlighting his all-around impact in the series finale. Both players have emerged as consistent offensive contributors, each maintaining batting averages above .300 through the season’s first 21 games.

The bullpen ensured there would be no late drama. Bryan Magdaleno and Eric Loomis each delivered perfect relief outings, combining for four strikeouts and maintaining the shutout. Wilian Bormie closed the game with efficiency, inducing a game-ending double play to seal the victory.

In total, Frisco’s pitching staff recorded a season-high 14 strikeouts while allowing just three hits, marking one of the most complete performances of the year.

The win carried added significance beyond the box score. By securing a series split, the RoughRiders demonstrated their ability to respond to adversity and adjust over the course of a series. After early struggles against a strong Tulsa squad, Frisco’s turnaround highlighted both its offensive potential and pitching depth.

For a team navigating the early stages of the season, the weekend surge offers a promising foundation. The RoughRiders have shown they can compete with one of the Texas League’s top teams — and, when executing at a high level, can control games on both sides of the ball.

As the season progresses, performances like Sunday’s will serve as a benchmark. Strong starting pitching, disciplined offense, and effective bullpen work form a blueprint that Frisco will look to replicate moving forward.

For now, the RoughRiders leave the series with momentum — and a reminder that resilience can turn the tide.
