MiLB Recap: Offensive Surge Meets Test as Frisco RoughRiders Open Series vs. Tulsa Drillers

STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | April 21, 2026  The early-season offensive surge meets a pivotal home test Tuesday afternoon as the Frisco RoughRiders open a six-game series against the Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. CT at Riders Field, with a left-handed pitching matchup headlining the series opener.

Frisco hands the ball to left-hander Josh Trentadue (0-0, 7.04 ERA), while Tulsa counters with lefty Adam Serwinowski (0-0, 18.00 ERA), setting up an intriguing duel between two starters looking to stabilize early-season performances.

The RoughRiders (8-7) enter the series following a high-scoring split on the road against Amarillo, showcasing one of the most potent lineups in Double-A baseball. Despite dropping the series finale 9-7, Frisco’s offense continues to trend upward, producing a .318 team batting average with 14 home runs and 54 runs scored over the past week.

That offensive consistency has been a defining trait for Frisco through the first 15 games of the season. The club leads Double-A in total hits (159) and ranks among league leaders in batting average (.293), slugging percentage (.477), and OPS (.848). The production has translated into a +19 run differential, signaling a team that has performed better than its record suggests.

Why the Frisco RoughRiders Are a Team to Watch This Season

Outfielder Marcus Lee Sang has been at the forefront of that surge, delivering a dominant stretch that included a .500 batting average and a pair of towering home runs in Amarillo. His ability to drive the baseball with authority has provided a spark at the top of the order, complementing the steady presence of infielder Frainyer Chavez. Chavez has reached base in all 15 games this season and continues to anchor the lineup with a .306 average, four home runs, and 10 RBIs.

New addition Corey Joyce has also made an immediate impact since joining the club earlier this month, adding power and depth to a lineup that has already proven capable of sustained offensive pressure.

However, the challenge for Frisco remains consistency in close games. The RoughRiders are 3-5 in one-run contests and have yet to win an extra-inning game this season (0-3), underscoring the importance of timely pitching and late-game execution.

Tuesday’s matchup presents an opportunity to address those areas against a Tulsa club that has historically found success in the head-to-head series. Over the past five seasons, Frisco is 13-17 against the Drillers, with Tulsa’s lineup producing 33 home runs in 30 matchups while facing a RoughRiders pitching staff that has posted a 5.92 ERA in those games.

For Trentadue, the key will be limiting early damage and working efficiently through Tulsa’s order. The left-hander has shown flashes but will need to command the zone more effectively against a Drillers lineup that has previously capitalized on mistakes.

On the opposite side, Serwinowski enters with an inflated ERA but offers a chance for Frisco’s offense to continue its aggressive approach. The RoughRiders have thrived against left-handed pitching early in the season, and their recent power surge could prove decisive if they maintain plate discipline.

With both teams looking to gain momentum in the early stages of the Texas League campaign, the opener sets the tone for a series that could hinge on pitching adjustments and continued offensive execution.

For Frisco, the formula is clear: sustain the offensive firepower, tighten late-game situations, and turn statistical dominance into wins. If those elements align, the RoughRiders have a strong opportunity to make a statement at home against one of their more familiar rivals.
