STWF Sports | SAN ANTONIO, Texas | June 14, 2026 — The Frisco RoughRiders were one strike away from turning Sunday night into another late-inning escape. Instead, the San Antonio Missions delivered the final swing, stunning Frisco 6-5 in 12 innings at Nelson Wolff Stadium to close the six-game series.
Romeo Sanabria played hero for San Antonio, blasting a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning against Eric Loomis to complete the Missions’ comeback. The loss dropped Frisco to 34-27, while San Antonio improved to 27-36.
The ending spoiled a strong night for the RoughRiders, who led early, received a dominant start from Dylan MacLean and battled back in the ninth before briefly reclaiming the lead in extras.
Frisco struck first in the second inning when Ian Moller launched a solo home run, giving the RoughRiders a 1-0 advantage. The blast was Moller’s seventh of the season, setting a new career high. Moller added to the lead in the fourth with a sacrifice fly, pushing Frisco ahead 2-0 and giving MacLean breathing room.
MacLean took full advantage.
The left-hander turned in one of his best outings of the season, working a career-high 6.1 scoreless innings. He allowed just four hits, struck out five and walked one, keeping San Antonio quiet and giving Frisco control through the middle innings. MacLean mixed his pitches well, worked ahead and limited hard contact throughout his start.
For most of the night, that looked like it would be enough.
San Antonio finally broke through in the eighth inning. Ryan Jackson delivered the key swing, driving a two-run triple to tie the game at 2-2. Moments later, Jackson came home on a wild pitch, giving the Missions their first lead of the night at 3-2.
The RoughRiders, however, were not done.
Down to their final out in the ninth inning, Orlando Martinez came through with a clutch RBI single to left field, tying the game at 3-3 and extending the contest. Martinez then made a major impact defensively in the bottom half, laying out for a diving catch in right field to help force extra innings and keep Frisco alive.
Both teams came up empty in the 10th and 11th innings as the bullpens traded pressure-filled frames. Frisco finally pushed back in front in the 12th when Arturo Disla came off the bench and delivered a pinch-hit RBI double. Marcus Lee Sang followed with an RBI single, giving the RoughRiders a 5-3 lead and putting them three outs away from a series-closing win.
San Antonio had one final answer.
Ethan Salas opened the Missions’ response with an RBI single to trim the deficit to 5-4. Then Sanabria stepped in and ended the night with one swing, sending a two-run homer over the wall to hand San Antonio the walk-off win.
Loomis took the loss for Frisco, falling to 0-2. In an unusual finish, catcher Chris Sargent Jr. earned the win for San Antonio after recording the final out on the mound in the top of the 12th.
Despite the loss, Frisco remains in a strong position in the Texas League South race. With Midland also losing Sunday, the RoughRiders maintained a 3.5-game lead over the RockHounds for first place with seven games remaining in the first half. Frisco also sits 4.5 games ahead of third-place Amarillo, and its magic number to clinch the division is down to four.
Sunday’s finale was a frustrating missed opportunity, especially after MacLean’s standout start and Frisco’s late push. Still, the RoughRiders leave San Antonio with control of the division race and a clear path toward a first-half title.
The RoughRiders will now turn the page quickly, looking to tighten up late-game execution while continuing their push toward a postseason berth.
