STWF Sports | FRISCO, Texas | June 19, 2026 — One night after celebrating a Texas League South First Half Championship, the Frisco RoughRiders were slowed by one of the league’s top arms.
Frisco RoughRiders Strive for Consistency
Frisco was shut out in its first game since clinching a postseason berth, falling 4-0 to the Arkansas Travelers on Friday night at Riders Field. The loss dropped the RoughRiders to 37-29, while Arkansas improved to 41-26 in the fifth game of the seven-game series.
The night belonged to Arkansas starter Kade Anderson, who continued a dominant stretch on the mound. The left-hander worked six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. Anderson extended his scoreless innings streak to 27.2 frames and improved his season résumé with another sharp outing against a Frisco lineup that had been rolling.
The RoughRiders entered Friday coming off back-to-back 13-run performances, including Thursday’s 13-4 win over Arkansas that locked up the division’s first-half crown and secured a spot in the September Texas League Playoffs. But one night later, Frisco could not recreate that offensive rhythm.
Arturo Disla and Julian Brock collected the only hits of the night for the RoughRiders. Disla’s knock was his eighth of the week, continuing a strong individual stretch during his first Double-A season. He is now hitting .318 with Frisco and has remained one of the club’s most productive bats during the Arkansas series.
Frisco starter Dalton Pence opened well, striking out two batters in a scoreless first inning. But the second inning created trouble. Pence issued three straight walks to open the frame, and Arkansas used the opportunity to push across the game’s first run. The sequence gave the Travelers an early 1-0 lead and forced Pence to work from traffic.
Pence settled in after the difficult inning and continued to compete. He eventually worked 5.1 innings, allowing two runs while giving the RoughRiders enough length to stay within reach. The outing also continued an impressive durability trend, as Pence has now pitched at least five innings in each of his first six career Double-A starts.
Arkansas added another run against Pence in the fifth inning, stretching its lead to 2-0. With Anderson controlling the game on the other side, that margin felt larger than usual.
The Travelers added late insurance, including a run in the eighth inning, before the final score settled at 4-0. Frisco was unable to generate the kind of pressure it had created earlier in the week, finishing without a run for the first time since clinching the playoff berth.
Friday’s result did not change the larger picture for Frisco. The RoughRiders already secured the Texas League South First Half Championship and will return to the postseason after missing the playoffs in 2025. Still, the game served as a reminder that the final stretch before the second half remains important as the club looks to maintain momentum and refine execution.
The RoughRiders had been one of the Texas League’s hottest offensive teams entering the night, powered by strong weeks from Disla, Frainyer Chavez, Rafe Perich and others. But Anderson kept Frisco off balance, limiting hard contact and preventing the Riders from building any sustained threat.
