STWF Sports | LOS ANGELES | June 5, 2026 — The Dallas Wings are taking their hottest stretch of the season on the road.
Understanding the Strengths of the Dallas Wings
Dallas travels to Crypto.com Arena on Friday night to face the Los Angeles Sparks at 9 p.m. CT in a nationally televised matchup on ION. The Wings enter at 6-3, while the Sparks come in at 4-5 after dropping their most recent game to the Las Vegas Aces.
For Dallas, Friday presents a chance to extend its current winning streak to four games. That would mark the Wings’ longest winning streak since the 2023 regular season and continue what has been the franchise’s best early-season stretch since moving to North Texas.
The Wings arrive in Los Angeles after one of their most complete performances of the season, a 79-56 win over the Seattle Storm on Monday night at a sold-out College Park Center. The 23-point victory matched Dallas’ largest margin of the season and tied for the fifth-largest win across the WNBA this year.
Dallas controlled that game with defense, rebounding and bench production. Rookie guard Aziaha James led the way with a season-high 18 points, three rebounds and one assist, giving the Wings a major lift in their first Commissioner’s Cup win of the season.
The defensive effort stood out just as much as the scoring. Holding Seattle to 56 points gave Dallas a strong response after a stretch of high-scoring matchups and showed how dangerous the Wings can be when their pace is paired with discipline on the other end.
Now the challenge shifts to the road.
Los Angeles has had recent success in this matchup, winning seven of its last 10 regular-season meetings against Dallas dating back to the 2023 season. The Wings are also looking for their first regular-season road win over the Sparks since May 26, 2024.
The Sparks are coming off a 79-69 home loss to Las Vegas on Tuesday night. Rae Burrell led Los Angeles with 22 points in the defeat, giving the Sparks a scoring spark despite the team falling short. Head Coach Lynne Roberts, now in her second season with Los Angeles, enters the matchup with a 25-28 all-time record.
For Dallas, the focus begins with Paige Bueckers. The second-year guard continues to lead the Wings in scoring at 18.3 points per game while adding 3.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists. Against Seattle, Bueckers did not need a high-volume scoring night to control the game, finishing with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in 24 minutes.
That type of performance showed her growth as a floor general. When Bueckers is creating for teammates, rebounding from the guard spot and keeping the offense organized, Dallas becomes much harder to defend.
Azzi Fudd gives the Wings another major perimeter threat. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft is averaging 12.1 points while adding defensive activity with 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. Fudd had nine points, one rebound, one steal and one block against Seattle, continuing to show value even when her shot volume is limited.
Arike Ogunbowale remains one of the franchise’s most important players and a proven late-game scorer. The eighth-year guard is averaging 13.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Her ability to create offense remains a key part of Dallas’ ceiling, especially in road environments where shot-making can swing momentum.
In the frontcourt, Jessica Shepard has been one of the WNBA’s most productive and versatile players. Shepard is averaging 12.6 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists, leading Dallas in both rebounds and assists. Her historic triple-double against Las Vegas on May 28 — 22 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists — remains one of the league’s defining performances of the season.
Maddy Siegrist also continues to provide valuable balance. She finished with nine points and nine rebounds against Seattle and has brought needed toughness on the glass since moving into the starting lineup.
Dallas will enter the game with Awak Kuier out because of a right wrist injury, while Li Yueru is listed as questionable with a left ankle injury.
Friday’s matchup offers the Wings another test of maturity. They have defended home court, beaten quality opponents and shown depth across the roster. Now, they need to carry that formula into Los Angeles against a Sparks team that has historically played them well.
If Dallas controls the glass, limits turnovers and gets balanced scoring from Bueckers, Fudd, Ogunbowale, Shepard and Siegrist, the Wings will have a strong chance to leave California with their fourth straight win.
