STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | May 17, 2026Dallas Wings will attempt to secure their first home victory of the 2026 season Monday night when they close out a three-game homestand against the Washington Mystics at College Park Center.

Dallas Wings Poised for Success This Season

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT in a nationally streamed matchup on Peacock featuring Michael Grady, Sarah Kustok and Jordan Cornette on the broadcast call. The game will also air locally on KFAA with Ron Thulin, Kim Adams and Alexis Davis covering the action.

Dallas enters the contest at 1-2 overall after falling just short in a highly competitive 90-86 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday night.

Despite the defeat, the Wings once again showed flashes of the offensive potential that has generated excitement around the franchise entering the 2026 campaign.

At the center of that optimism continues to be rising superstar Paige Bueckers.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year delivered her strongest performance of the young season against Minnesota, erupting for a season-high 27 points while also adding three rebounds and a career-best eight assists.

Bueckers controlled the tempo offensively throughout much of the game, attacking in transition, creating open looks for teammates and showing increasing confidence as the primary facilitator in head coach Jose Fernandez’s offense.

Her ability to balance scoring with playmaking has quickly become one of the most important storylines for Dallas early this season.

Bueckers has already demonstrated she can take over games offensively, but Thursday’s performance showcased a more complete floor game that could elevate the Wings’ offense to another level as the season progresses.

Dallas also received a major spark off the bench from forward Maddy Siegrist.

Siegrist exploded for a season-high 17 points in only 16 minutes against the Lynx, with all 17 coming during the first half. The scoring burst marked a new career-high for points scored in a single half and provided a huge lift for a Wings second unit that continues developing chemistry.

Her instant offense and versatility have become increasingly valuable for Dallas during the early stages of the season.

Veteran guard Arike Ogunbowale also remains a major focal point for opposing defenses despite Thursday’s loss.

The All-Star scorer continues leading Dallas offensively overall and has already produced multiple 20-point performances this season. Her shot creation and late-game scoring ability remain critical for a Wings team still searching for consistency defensively.

Monday’s matchup, however, presents another difficult challenge.

Washington enters Arlington at 2-1 after surviving a thrilling 104-102 overtime victory against the Indiana Fever on Friday night.

The Mystics showcased impressive offensive balance during the win, led by rookie guard Sonia Citron, who erupted for a career-high 30 points.

Washington also received another dominant performance from second-year standout Kiki Iriafen, who posted a 25-point, 13-rebound double-double while controlling the paint throughout the game.

The young frontcourt combination has quickly become one of the biggest reasons Washington appears significantly improved entering head coach Sydney Johnson’s second season leading the franchise.

Johnson currently holds an 18-29 overall record with the Mystics but appears to have the team playing with increased confidence and offensive aggression early this year.

For Dallas, containing Washington’s frontcourt activity and transition offense will be a major priority.

The Wings have shown stretches of strong offensive execution during their first three games, but defensive rebounding and interior consistency remain areas needing improvement.

Dallas narrowly lost the rebounding battle against Minnesota and Atlanta during the current homestand, and Washington’s aggressive attacking style could create similar challenges Monday night.

Historically, the matchup has remained highly competitive.

The Wings hold a slight 21-20 all-time advantage against Washington at home, though the Mystics own a 6-4 edge in the last 10 regular-season meetings dating back to 2023.

Still, Monday presents an important opportunity for Dallas beyond simply ending the homestand on a positive note.

The Wings are continuing to build chemistry under Fernandez while integrating a roster filled with young talent, veterans and evolving offensive roles.

Another strong performance from Bueckers, Ogunbowale and the second unit could provide the momentum Dallas needs before beginning the next phase of its schedule.

And after narrowly missing out against one of the WNBA’s top contenders Thursday night, the Wings believe they are close to putting together a complete performance.

Monday night offers another opportunity to prove it.
