STWF Sports | BROOKLYN, NY| May 24, 2026 | — Two nights after an agonizing fourth-quarter collapse in Atlanta, the Dallas Wings showed the short memory required of a true contender.
Silencing a raucous, sold-out crowd at the Barclays Center, the Dallas Wings (4-3) put on an offensive clinic to dismantle the New York Liberty (3-3) in a 91-76 statement victory. The win marks a significant milestone for the franchise, securing their first road triumph against the Liberty in Brooklyn since July 19, 2023, and elevating their impressive away record to 3-1 this season.
The Azzi Fudd Show
Dallas Wings: A Rising Force in the WNBA
While the Wings boast an array of established superstars, Sunday afternoon belonged entirely to rookie sensation Azzi Fudd. Authoring a breakout masterpiece, Fudd tormenting the Liberty defense to finish with a career-high 24 points, three assists, three steals, and two blocks.
The defining moment of the contest arrived in the third quarter, where Fudd put together one of the most blistering shooting displays in recent league history. The rookie single-handedly outscored the Liberty for a large stretch of the frame, racking up 17 of her 24 points in those ten minutes alone.
That performance tied for the second-most points scored by a rookie in a single quarter since the WNBA transitioned to the format in 2006, and the most by any first-year player since Rhyne Howard in May 2022. By the final whistle, Fudd had buried six three-pointers, shattering the Wings’ franchise record for the most triples by a rookie in a single game.
A Historic Perimeter Masterclass
Fudd’s perimeter brilliance proved contagious. Sophomore guard Paige Bueckers matched Fudd with a team-high 24 points of her own, tracking down a season-high six rebounds to steady the Dallas backcourt. Meanwhile, veteran bucket-getter Arike Ogunbowale was lethal, electric from deep to record 19 points, five assists, and a season-high five three-pointers.
The combined sharp-shooting from Ogunbowale and Fudd marked just the third time in Wings history—and the 30th time in WNBA history—that a pair of teammates each connected on at least five triples in the same game.
Connecting on a season-high 15 three-pointers at a 42.9% clip, Dallas simply stretched New York’s perimeter defense past its breaking point. This offensive fluidity was anchored by center Jessica Shepard, who masterfully dictated the high post to collect her fourth double-double of the year with 10 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, and a team-high six assists.
Weathering the Early Storm
The game was far from a wire-to-wire cakewalk. New York sprinted out of the gates with an immediate 11-2 run, punishing early Dallas empty possessions and forcing head coach Jose Fernandez into an urgent timeout.
Dallas responded out of the huddle with a 7-0 counter-punch, fueled by the arrival of Fudd and Awak Kuier off the bench. Kuier followed up her career night from Friday with another stellar shift, anchoring the second unit with 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocks. Backed by Kuier and Fudd, the Dallas bench utterly dominated the depth battle, outscoring New York’s reserves 38-17.
After a tight second quarter that saw the Liberty carry a slim 44-43 lead into halftime behind Satou Sabally’s team-high 20 points, Dallas completely flipped the script in the second half.
Following Fudd’s third-quarter avalanche, Bueckers took the baton to close out the game in the fourth. The dynamic guard notched 11 of her 24 points in the final frame, spearheading an 8-2 run to push the lead to 16. Bueckers iced the game with a flawless 8-of-8 display from the free-throw line, preventing any hopes of a New York comeback despite a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double from Breanna Stewart.
