STWF Sports | ARLINGTON, Texas | May 28, 2026 — The Dallas Wings delivered one of their biggest wins of the young WNBA season Thursday night, storming back from a double-digit deficit to defeat the defending champion Las Vegas Aces 95-87 in front of a sold-out crowd at College Park Center.
Fueled by a historic performance from Jessica Shepard and a second-half offensive surge from the Wings’ young core, Dallas improved to 5-3 on the season while snapping a lengthy skid against Las Vegas. The victory marked the Wings’ first win over the Aces since August 2024 and showcased the growing confidence surrounding the franchise early in the 2026 campaign.
Dallas Wings’ Historic Victory Over the Aces
Shepard delivered a performance for the record books, finishing with a career-high tying 22 points, a career-best 20 rebounds, and 10 assists for her second triple-double in the last eight days. According to the team, Shepard became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 22 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists in a single game.
The veteran forward controlled nearly every aspect of the game, dominating the glass while consistently creating scoring opportunities for teammates during Dallas’ second-half comeback.
“She was everywhere tonight,” Wings head coach Jose Fernandez said postgame. “Rebounding, pushing the pace, facilitating offense — she completely changed the game for us.”
Dallas also received a breakout effort from rookie guard Azzi Fudd, who made the first start of her WNBA career and continued her recent offensive surge. Fudd scored 22 points in a career-high 37 minutes, marking her second consecutive 20-point outing. The rookie guard ignited the crowd during the third quarter, knocking down key jumpers and attacking the basket aggressively as Dallas erased Las Vegas’ lead.
Paige Bueckers added another polished all-around performance with 20 points, six assists, and two blocks, while Awak Kuier provided critical energy off the bench with 12 points and two blocks in 21 minutes. Kuier’s fourth-quarter stretch proved pivotal as Dallas seized momentum late.
The game did not begin smoothly for the Wings.
Las Vegas controlled much of the first half behind the veteran trio of A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray. After Dallas briefly grabbed an early lead behind strong outside shooting from Maddy Siegrist, the Aces closed the opening quarter on a 17-8 run to take a 26-21 advantage.
The second quarter saw Las Vegas continue to build separation. The Aces pushed the lead to as many as 13 points after an 8-0 run midway through the period, capitalizing on efficient shooting and transition opportunities. Chelsea Gray orchestrated the offense brilliantly, finishing with eight assists, while Jackie Young repeatedly attacked the paint.
Dallas trailed 53-45 at halftime after the Aces shot better than 52 percent from the floor during the opening twenty minutes.
But the momentum shifted dramatically after the break.
The Wings opened the third quarter with renewed defensive intensity and improved ball movement offensively. Shepard dominated the interior during the stretch, scoring 11 points in the period while Bueckers controlled the tempo and created quality looks for teammates.
Fudd then delivered the spark that energized both the team and the sold-out home crowd.
The rookie guard scored eight points in the third quarter on perfect shooting, including a clutch jumper late in the period that tied the game 72-72 entering the fourth. Fans erupted as Dallas completed the comeback after trailing by double digits earlier in the night.
The Wings carried that momentum into the final quarter.
Dallas opened the fourth with a Shepard basket to reclaim the lead, then used a decisive 14-6 run midway through the period to pull away. Kuier knocked down a pair of key three-pointers while Fudd continued attacking off the dribble. Bueckers later delivered the dagger, burying a deep three-pointer with under two minutes remaining to extend Dallas’ lead to 93-81.
Defensively, the Wings also tightened up significantly in the second half, holding Las Vegas to just 35.7 percent shooting after halftime. Dallas outrebounded the Aces 39-33 overall and controlled second-chance opportunities throughout the comeback.
Wilson led Las Vegas with 21 points, while NaLyssa Smith added 12 rebounds. However, the Aces struggled to maintain offensive rhythm late as Dallas’ defensive pressure intensified.
For the Wings, the victory represented more than just another regular-season win.
It served as a statement performance against one of the WNBA’s premier franchises and another sign that Dallas’ blend of veteran leadership and emerging young talent is beginning to come together.
The Wings will now look to carry that momentum into their next matchup against the Seattle Storm on June 1 at College Park Center. Las Vegas and Dallas will meet again on June 15 in Arlington for the second of three regular-season meetings.
