WNBA Recap: Dallas Wings Rally Past Toronto Tempo in Historic Montreal Showcase

STWF Sports | Montreal, QC | July 10, 2026 — The Dallas Wings turned a historic night in Montreal into another statement victory, overcoming an early double-digit deficit to defeat the Toronto Tempo 108-95 before a record-setting crowd Friday at Bell Centre.

A total of 20,996 fans attended the first WNBA game ever played in Montreal, surpassing the previous regular-season attendance record of 20,711 established in 2024. Dallas spoiled the celebration behind a season-high 34 points from Paige Bueckers and a dominant fourth-quarter defensive performance.

The Wings improved to 15-8 while extending their winning streak to four games, matching their longest run of the season. Dallas also secured its fourth consecutive road victory, the franchise’s first four-game road winning streak since 2022. Toronto dropped to 9-13 and fell to 0-2 against the Wings this season.

Dallas Wings Dominate the Court

Bueckers delivered one of her strongest all-around performances of the year, shooting 13-of-22 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. She added six rebounds and six assists while reaching 30 points for the fourth time in her career.

Jessica Shepard controlled the glass and recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 20 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. It marked her third double-double featuring at least 20 points and 15 boards.

Arike Ogunbowale added 20 points, three rebounds and seven assists, tying her season high in the latter category. Azzi Fudd finished with 13 points, while veteran forward Alysha Clark supplied a season-high 10 points off the bench—all coming during Dallas’ decisive fourth-quarter surge.

The Wings faced immediate adversity after Toronto erupted for 33 points in the opening quarter. Marina Mabrey scored 17 points in the period and connected on four 3-pointers as the Tempo built a 13-point advantage. Dallas still managed 25 points behind 10 from Bueckers and six early points from Shepard.

Toronto stretched its lead to 42-29 early in the second quarter, but Dallas began to settle into the game. The Wings tightened their defense against Mabrey and gradually reduced the deficit. Bueckers closed the half by making a midrange jumper at the buzzer, sending Dallas into the locker room trailing 56-52.

The game changed after halftime.

Ogunbowale scored the first five points of the third quarter, giving Dallas its first lead since the opening minutes. What followed was a back-and-forth battle featuring seven ties and six lead changes during the period. Bueckers scored 11 points in the quarter, while Mabrey answered with 13 for Toronto.

Odyssey Sims connected from beyond the arc at the third-quarter buzzer, pulling the Wings within one at 85-84 and setting the stage for a dominant finish.

Dallas completely controlled the fourth quarter, outscoring Toronto 24-10. The Tempo missed all five of their 3-point attempts in the final period, committed four turnovers and managed only five made field goals.

Clark provided the spark, scoring all 10 of her points in the quarter. Bueckers and Ogunbowale each added seven as Dallas steadily pulled away. Mabrey, who matched Bueckers with 34 points, was limited to only two in the fourth.

The Wings shot 52.7 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3-point range and 19-of-21 from the free-throw line. Dallas improved to 6-0 when shooting at least 50 percent and 4-0 when reaching 100 points.

Dallas also held advantages in rebounds, second-chance scoring, fast-break points and bench production.

The Wings return home Sunday to face the Chicago Sky at 6 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
